AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A Richmond County homeowner shot a 17-year-old Tuesday morning who was trying to burglarize his home, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Ty'Qua Zhan'Trez Walker is accused of kicking open the front door of a home on Gordon Highway, according to the sheriff's office. The homeowner heard a noise at his front door, then heard a louder noise.

When he went to the front door, he saw Walker standing in his kitchen, deputies said. Two other men also entered the house.

The homeowner fired multiple times at Walker, striking him in the stomach. Walker and the two other men fled on foot.

Deputies later found Walker outside a residence on the corner of Vandivere Road and Kentucky Avenue. They said the other two suspects left him there. The owner of the home where Walker was left called 911.

Walker is being treated for his gunshot wound and will be charged with criminal attempt burglary and booked at the Richmond County jail later.

The governor's solution: change the law so that people are once again allowed to buy 10-round magazines but make it illegal to put more than seven rounds in them. I swear I am not making that up; it is already the rule for previously owned 10-round magazines, which are legal as long as they contain seven or fewer rounds. Putting in that eighth round is a violation punishable by a $200 fine for the first offense and a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail, for a second offense if the magazine stays in your home; if you walk outside with it, that eighth round could cost you up to six months in jail for the first offense and up to a year for the second.

I think the fact that it took a trained Officer 7 or 8 shots to bring Brown down, and that Cop in SC that tried to execute that poor man reaching for his wallet missed 5 times

Is prove positive an untrained civilian might need 10 round to stop a criminal.

i think it was great that the homeowner defended his property.

yes, with a gun. guns are cool. nah, i ain't making a baiting post - i'm posting my personal opinion, instead.

That is why we train. Run defensive drills..... as much as the left thinks it is crazy and we are wanna be cops. ect. to do so.

Don't know if you ever watch Penn and Teller's BS. They are big Libertarians and usually have some very thought provoking shows, although I don't always agree.

Last night's was about why the martial arts was BS. Worse show ever. Made no sense. His premise was the best self defense was to give the attacker what ever they want. Even went on to say, he dumped a milkshake on his head to make truckers laugh when he was a hippie, so they would not beat him up.

I think the show is in it's death phase.

I can only give this story a solid one thumb up. Now if Walker was shot between the eyes……this would allow me to give it a two thumbs up. As it stands right now this thug will be back on the streets in a few years. There is a high likely hood that he has not learned his lesson.
