Some would suggest a Rainbow or a Filter Queen.

The Rainbow has more powerful suction, though the Queen can pick up a spent .45 cartridge with no hesitation (and it won't bust the motor).

Both are bagless: Rainbow through water (which turns muddy) and Queen with conical ultrafine paper cyclone filter (not a bag).

anything in a cannister vacuum isn't going to clean as well as an upright IMO. The further away the cleaning tool is from the motor, the less the cleaning power.

I think most vacuum cleaners do at least an ok job. probably more important is the frequency of cleaning. I vacuum our condo at least 3 times a week, due to 1 cat (soon to be 2) and a dog

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ouch!

Those are terrible prices for Dysons. I bought a reconditioned Dyson here in the UK 2 years ago. It only cost me £25 and is fantastic. I wish I could bring it with me.

A rebuilt Queen (a NEW one has a "lifetime warranty", but has a 4-digit price) could cost you around $200-300.

e-bay has lots of stuff there. And flea markets. And small town shops who recondition vacuums. Just make sure you get all the parts from whoever you buy it from!

Hoovers, Eureka, Dirt Devils- work good the first month or so then you will discover you have waisted your money.

i have a pair of bagless hoover uprights with a hepa filter. they work great, just gotta clean the filter frequently and do a monthly cleaning on the agitator. i've had them for about 4 years now.
