It's worth it because once it's done, it's done. With the GC, you have to keep paying the cost for renewing every ten years.

From a cost standpoint, it is hard to justify. When I analyzed the costs, it only paid for itself after 25 years or something like that. Having to maintain your foreign passport and also begin to pay for a US passport every 10 years eats in to any savings you get from not having to renew your GC. So I wound't use cost as a means to justify becoming a US citizen.

Becoming a citizen has other benefits that should be weighed. Traveling becomes easier and being able to petition other family members to come to the US is a big one for many.
