is there a limit for the money?

There is no limit to the amount you can bring in, but you must disclose amounts over $10,000 and that includes the value of "monetary instruments" you are carrying like checks and gold coins.

Don't want to be a fear-monger, but if you're considering moving around inside the US with a significant amount of cash, you should be aware of the risk of civil forfeiture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_forfeiture_in_the_United_States#Traffic_stops

I had a friend who recently bought a new car with cash. He pulled the money out of his savings account and decided to plunk it down on a new car he was buying. He learned his lesson about how friggen hard it is to even spend over 10 grand when its in cash. It delayed his purchase for days as no one knew how to properly do the paperwork.
