So is it now required to pay visa fee online and schedule your own appointment? Im still getting conflicting info. My fiance has gotten two emails one stating pay on day of interview. The most recent states policy has changed and to pay online and schedule interview.

My checklist also gave instruction to pay the the fee online and setting a interview date.. I haven't done so yet, so not sure what will happen.. Everything is different.. Anyone who get Packet 3 after October 10, 2014 may be able to relate.

Yes we just received Packet 3 and it states:

Step 1—Complete the DS-160.

The DS-160 Form is available online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/. The system will automatically
generate a confirmation number after you submit the form.
Step 2—Register online, pay the fee, and schedule your interview.
Please go to http://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-jm/iv, click “Register,” and follow the on-screen instructions.
After you pay the USD $265 fee online, you will be able to schedule your interview.
If you need help registering, please call (876) 632-7400 from Jamaica, or (703) 439-2360 from the U.S.
So I guess I will try that. (fingers crossed)

Ha!! So we log in to finish and pay the visa fee and click over to schedule and just like others have said.... you cant schedule an appointment for interview. It is only to register information and pay visa fee. Here's a copy and paste of what it said.

"Do not continue with this process if you have not received a Consular appointment letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) or the Consular Section.

Enter the Consular location and exact date from the appointment letter you received from the NVC, KCC, or the Consular Section.

You are not scheduling an appointment, you are only registering your appointment information from the received appointment letter.

The Consular Section will not process applicants who enter false or different information than what is on your appointment letter"
