Hi all! We have received our interview date/ letter! :-) Date is set for december 29 at 8:15 am.

My big question when should I schedule for the medical exam? The document said to print and take with to the medical exam. But did not say how long it would be valid for.

Also we did the electronic processing and the letter says Guangzhou electronic filing. Do we still get a packet to take to the interview? It did not mention any packet. Just about the medical packet.

Thanks!! We are so excited! Waited 1 year 2 months for this :-)

~~moved to China sub forum as question is being asked specifically about that region from IR1/CR1 process and procedures~~

no need to schedule, if using the Medical Facility next to the US Consulate in Guangzhou.

DualityofOneness somehow thinks that what worked in Shanghai is normal for Guangzhou, and it isn't.

Can go one or two days prior to the interview, but your interview is on a Monday - so

Suggest go in SUPER EARLY on friday, get in the queue, then come back in the late afternoon, get the medical stuff then. Or return that Saturday morning for pickup - noting they close in the afternoon.

DualityofOneness Please stop suggesting 1 week for Guangzhou medical exams. Thanks so much, and Thanks in advance !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks for all the replies! Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Just purchased a new house and work has been crazy. My wife already has completed the medical exam. She called ahead to see what she needed. And they needed 8 passport style photos. I read only 4 was needed. But no problem she has 16 left now haha. She filled a form out online and went in first thing in the morning last Friday. The medical exam took almost 2 hours. The injections caused her to bruise a little and made her arm hurt. She felt a little sick for 2 days but she is good now. She will have to go back to pick up the paper work in a sealed envelope.

We are almost there. I am so thankful my wife lives in Guangzhou city.

Yep, you are lucky. My then-fiancee and stepson were not so lucky. They lived in NE China, Liaoning province, only ~3,000km hop-skip-and-a-jump from Guangzhou.

BTW, they did their medicals one day and the interview the next day, that was with the old Guangzhou consulate location.

YMMV.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Wow a long journey to GZ. My wife said the new consulate is very easy for her to get there and near the subway. She was there the other day to get done documents notarized. Now she has an idea on how the consulate operates and how the security is. Only 24 days left.

Thanks!

8 damn photos?? Where do they tell you this? In the "P4" packet you get after you schedule the interview date?

Thank you

The p4 said nothing about the photos. I found the address for the proper hospital online. In fact the only place I read needed 2 or 4 (can't remember which) was here on the forums. My wife first called the hospital. They told her 8 photos, passport, p4 and payment is what they need. So I'm surprised too. Maybe they didn't know how many either on the phone and told her 8 to make sure. Again we are doing it the electronic processing way. Maybe a little different?

But really who cares at this point. That was a simple extra thing to do. Now only 22 days left until her interview :-) thanks to this site I can find all my answers. Thanks! :-)
