Does anyone know? My I-130 petition was approved and has been received by NVC . I have not received a Case number yet. My question is my wife lives in sanna, yemen and the embassy there is soooooooo slow. It takes 1 to 2 years to get an appointment because they say their under staffed. Sucks but nothing anyone can do about it. My question is can I move my petition to another Embassy? like cairo, Egypt if yes please give me as much details as possible and if not please tell me why. Thank you any help is appreciated. This whole process is very stressful.

I don't think so. Otherwise everyone would want to do it.

If you could easily transfer because the one you are at is slow then what's to stop everyone else doing the same thing?

Unfortunately it seems you will just have to be patient.

Yes you can transfer, BUT, you need to be ELIGIBLE to do so.

If your wife is a citizen of Egypt, she can ask for a transfer there. Otherwise she needs to live there, and she should be a resident for at least 6 months (from memory)

You cannot just pick an embassy at random and ask to be processed there.

Just called the NVC. Our Embassy Transfer was accepted, and I got the new case number (starts with the embassy code).

Now they have to process the rest of the case, but no idea when that would be she said :(

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm just trying to find a solution. I understand Yemen has a lot of wars going on right now and that's why there embassy is so under staffed. You would think because of the wars and issues in Yemen they would let us get our families out of there not the other way around. Some embassies only have a month wait and Yemen has over a year wait, I just don't see how that's fair.
