Show up in court early, don't wait until court date and settle it down ASAP by paying fine or getting it dismissed whatever you can do to get a court order. It takes at least a week to get into police

Time for an update. I had my interview on the 5th of May. The officer was a younger guy, quite friendly. He was fairly new at this job and he stated that this would be the first time he is dealing with an application based on qualifying military service. We went through the N-400 in detail. I clarified, he took notes. One wrinkle I have been losing my mind over was the fact that I somehow got registered to vote a few years back. I never voted and cancelled the voter registration as soon as I was made aware. Like I said, I've been nervous about that wrinkle in my application, but he did't really seem worried about it. I sent in all the registration and voting related documents with the initial application, so USCIS had everything prior to the interview. After about 25 minutes we completed the review of my N-400 and he proceeded to ask me the civics questions, followed by the language proficiency test. No problems there.

He told me that he will recommend my application for approval, but made it clear that his supervisor would have the final say on that due to the voter registration issue. Ideally, I'd be receiving a letter for the oath ceremony within 2 weeks. Upon my departure he told me not to worry, and that he'd be surprised if it doesn't get approved. He wished me luck and thanked me for my service.

Overall, it was a pretty pleasant experience.

And I just checked the case status online. My application has been approved!

Interview letter received. May 28th at 9.00!

MrsAK, I got my status updated online. they said interview is scheduled.

Can you please tell me how long I have to wait for the letter in the mail, Secondly I heard that Dallas do the Interview and Oath Ceremony same day?

Today, almost a month since my bizarre and unnerving interview, my status on the USCIS site changed:

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice...with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony.

I'm assuming this is just because NYC is backlogged. Anyway, almost there.

Hi Guys,

I attached my interview experience, I posted a few days late because my little daughter got sick a day after my interview, fortunately she is well and healthy now.

The interview was very smooth and faster, but, I noticed, at the Newark office if you have an appointment in the morning be prepared to spend the whole day there, otherwise if it is at the afternoon the waiting time is no longer.
My appointment was at 11:15 am, I came around 10:35; I was called at 12:50, the interviewer swore me in, asked me for my ID, green card and passport and then proceeded to review the N-400 form, asked me a few questions from the application itself, asked me if I had filed my taxes, about any arrests, convictions, traffic tickets in my past, she went over the yes/no questions one by one. I told her to update my travel info, checked my passport and wrote the dates in the form. Then the speaking, reading, and civics tests, it was very, very easy, but I was very nervous.
I signed the forms, pictures, and other sheet with a yes /no questionnaire about if I changed my mind since the interview. She gave me that sheet and the naturalization interview results, total time: around 25 minutes (1:15 pm), she sent me back to the waiting area and wait for my name to be called. I was called at 3 pm; I gave back the oath sheet, review the naturalization certificate, give up my green card and, he asked if I have another expired GC, he gave me a green envelope and asked me to send it back to the Newark office with the card, then sent me to the ceremony room, there wait about 30 minutes.

The Oath ceremony took place around 4:00 pm. More than 30 people from different countries reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, singing the National Anthem and the Oath of Allegiance to becoming a U.S. citizens.
I felt very emotional to end this immigration journey.

I have a question about the civic test, some of the 100 questions contain more than one answer, do we need to say all the answers or just need to answer one? For examples, 37. what does the judicial branch do? 61. Why did the colonists fight the British? Thanks!

Unless the question specifically requires you to answer all, I would only choose one answer not all!

hey guys,my interviewer was saying he waiting for a background check...do they give appointment without having their background first...he would tell me during my interview he should get it by the end of the last week,but till nothing...kinda streessss

Good luck! My status changed yesterday to "Oath notice has been mailed." That's 5 weeks from the interview. Hopefully yours will be quick, and then we might even be at the same ceremony!
