It is your own responsibility to ensure all vehicle documents are in order before you operate the vehicle, yours or not. It infuriates how people in new york city are so quick to call law enforcement officers "haters" or "racists" the minute they receive a ticket or a summons. The fact is that they are doing their job and had you had all proper paper work you would have not received an infraction.

As far as your USCIS case, you should consult with an attorney, you will need to prove that the case is not pending when you go for an interview.

Just talked to an immigration lawyer, waiting for his client, who said the wait time here is frequently 2-3 hours. Also just heard a woman talking about the citizenship test with her lawyer. When was the Constitution written? "1837" was her recollection. Yeahhhh.

Personally, no i have not. I have several family members and friends on the force and i can not see any of them being nothing but professional while on duty.

Not having been mistreated by a cop doesn't stop you from imagining that others might be. Or have you avoided all news and conversation in the last year? And of course your family are the exception; because the officer who shot and killed Walter Scott would obviously have admitted his shortcomings in an online forum, right?

Everyone seems to have an issue with NYPD lately until the moment when their fingers need to press those 3 numbers on the phone.

Nice straw man. It doesn't "go both ways," your premise is flawed. We have police BECAUSE of crime, so arguing that civilian-on-police crime somehow justifies or mitigates against the horror of police brutality/corruption/murder is absurd. No one has argued that bad things don't happen to cops; but cops are supposed to be BETTER than the general populace: that's why they're cops. Police brutality is endemic in this country, but that isn't even the sentiment you were responding to: the original comment was that a cop was nasty. You took that to be a criticism of the cop for doing his job, but it wasn't necessarily, and you're being intellectually dishonest if you claim to be unaware of police conducting their sworn duties in a less than professional and honorable manner just because you haven't experienced it first hand. I'm a criminal defense attorney and I see the results of police misbehavior all the time; but you know just as much as I do that being on-site and physically witnessing it isn't the only way of appreciating the existence of a social problem. thanks lauder for supporting comment i never said i was against them this guy had no reason to gimme 8 tickets in one day yes he was a racist coz i felt it by the treatment i received n no one need to be over smart telling me they were doing there job which i am not against it i am a law abiding resident i know what i have to do and what i need to have before i drive. registration is one ticket he gave me additional 7 explaining the same offense so tell me is it hate or what? it is definitely therefore no need to tell me vguy i felt offended by the behavior he had towards me. i am not a kid the guy was really rude to me for some reason and right after he left there were more Americans around me telling that he did it on purpose and the supervisor of that officer even told me that he could have given me a break anyways long story short he was nasty hater and racist job is giving one ticket for one offense not 8 for the same offense

vguy like i said i have no problem officer giving me tickets but the way he approached me was not professional at all for that i said what i said and i stand by it he was nasty i spoke to my lawyer and the tickets he gave is out of hate thats exactly one of the lawyer said

lol spoke to him this morning he said he will go with me on the court date and i have nothing to worry. vguy no offense i am a business man i have 40 retail stores in new york people know me for what i do i could assure i respected him back and will remain b respective no matter what his job was to gimme a ticket and my job is to get it dismissed soon its just waste of time which i dont have

Finally i received an update, interview was scheduled. Have to wait for the letter though.

After giving my Biometrics on Jan 6th this is the update i got without getting an in line notifcation.

Haha, thanks for asking. It was surprisingly intense, prolonged and unsatisfying.

The officer asked me to swear to tell the truth as soon as I got through the door, which I did, including her first question "did you study for the citizenship test." I truthfully answered "no," which seemed to annoy her. She rattled off six questions fast, all softballs:

What does the cabinet do?

If neither the President nor VP can serve, who becomes President?

We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?

How many justices are on the Supreme Court?

What did the Declaration of Independence do?

Name one branch of government.

She made a big deal out of me not having any bills or other paperwork showing that my wife resided at the same address as me. I kept pointing at the stack of tax docs in front of her, which included our 2014 joint return, listing us both as living at the same address. The fact that I had my wife's actual passport with me didn't seem to mean anything, because apparently I could have stolen it. Eventually she seemed to relent, but with a great deal of reluctance.

Then she asked me a LOT of questions about my application and background, including ALL of the ones about participating in genocide, persecuting minorities, advocating the overthrow of any government, being a Communist etc. Things got really sticky when she got to the question in which I'd answered that I was unwilling to take the full Oath of Allegiance. I explained it in a supplement to the application, but she seemed to be baffled by the idea that anyone would refuse to speak the words "so help me God." She peppered me with questions until I pointed out that there's a clear USCIS directive on the subject, at which point she insisted on reading the entire Oath of Allegiance and pausing after each clause to ask if I had any problem with it. In the questions that followed she asked me TWICE if I'd ever persecuted anyone because of their religion, despite having ALREADY asked me that question. Pretty hostile stuff.

The English test ("Citizens can vote") was last, then she printed off the sheet saying that I'd past the tests. She said that I'd receive a decision in the mail. I asked if that meant that a decision couldn't be made today and she said that that was correct (strangely the box on the sheet stating that language isn't checked). I asked why not and she said that it was standard for the application to be reviewed before a final determination. She said that that's by far the most frequent outcome for younger people, which wasn't the impression I'd received from all of your experiences. Now I'll just have to wait and see what the letter says.

Pretty odd, and now I'm more eager than ever to be done with it all.
