We have the same office, so I am hoping for a smooth process as well . Just got the notification that they've scheduled my interview. I send my application January 30th so technically a February filer.

Quick question: did she give you the naturalization certificate right away? So that the oath ceremony would be official? Is that common? Do you know by any chance how often they schedule the oath ceremony? The ideal for me would be to have my passport done ASAP to avoid having to ask for a visa to Europe for my upcoming trip this summer. I am just trying to see if I need to schedule and appointment for a visa for the country I am traveling too, or just wait for my passport here

no, she did not give me the certificate right there. I don't think she can do that, there has to be a naturalization ceremony… She did say that normally KC schedules ceremonies every two months, and that if I couldn't make the one next week I'd have to wait about 2 months to get sworn in. The one I am going to is in KC, with for me is an hour drive, but I didn't want to wait 2 months for a ceremony in Topeka

The reading/writing part is super easy, and the questions are, too. I listened to the CD one last time on the way to the interview, and she stopped after 6 questions once I got them right You'll be fine!

Well, not everyone is a native speaker I know several people who moved here and they barely speak English. For them, the reading/writing and "test" parts are hard...

I should have been clearer, by "test" I meant the questions, not the English part. I thought it would go without saying that obviously some people have a huge advantage as far as that part goes.

You may already know this, but I thought I would just reiterate that once you become a citizen you must get a US passport before you travel abroad. So if you have your oath ceremony a couple of days before your flight to Europe, you will still need to apply for US passport. In this case you can go into one of the regional passport centers (not an acceptance facility such as the post office) in person and ask for expedited service (you will require proof of travel in most cases). Of course, if you haven't had your ceremony by them, you can travel on your current passport and visa.

I figured that I couldn't use my old passport after, but at the same time I need to book my ticket, and I need a passport number for that. so I am trying to figure out the best options. Once I get that interview date in the mail, I will know for sure. Originally I didn't think I would be in this situation because when I look at the field office's processing times, it says they are working on July 2014 applications. So I thought I will come back in August before my interview
