Hello to all, just wondering if any of you can provide any information from personal experience.

My wife (whom I'm sponsoring) & I had our AOS interview on 10/26/2006 in Baltimore, MD. At the interview, it appears everything was fine except for the need for my joint sponsor's evidence of employment in the form of paystubs (which was not required as per the instructions from the I-864 form when filed but c'est la vie). The interviewer provided us with an RFE but could not provide an answer as to how long the wait may be if we were to submit in an RFE soon after.

In any case, two days later, we submitted copies of the paystubs with the RFE and paid for the extra option to track the letter. We tracked the letter and it was received two days later on 10/30/2006 at the address that the interviewer provided us on the RFE page.

Now, it's been ~ 3 months. According to the USCIS website, her case is at the "Missouri Service Center" even though we were told after calling USCIS to check in on the local office (Baltimore, MD) -- it's all relatively confusing. We called the USCIS today and the friendly woman indicated that she put in a request for status and to wait 30 days.

From what I understand, since we had an RFE, the ability to track the processing time is not the same as checking the info and dates on the USCIS website. In addition, the "Missouri Service Center" (which is the National Service Center or National Benefits Center) does not have any processing dates/times for I-485s or I-130s.

I was wondering if anybody has had any similar experiences and how long they may have waited. In addition, would scheduling an INFOPASS be advised and if so, how long does it take (i.e. would scheduling an appointment now result in an appointment 1 month or later?)?

Thanks to all for any info!

Supposedly, they are supposed to give you an update or decision within 60 days of their receipt of the RFE. Did they ever notify you they received it? And yes, you are supposed to be checking with your local office. It is confusing, i agree, but unless you have been transferred to CSC then your case should be dealt with at your local office level (at least as far as I know). I'd definitely make that infopass to see what is up. Look for the processing times of your local office, although since you've had your interview I don't see why they would tell much.

when you use infopass it gives you a bunch of dates available for the next week most of the time so you only wait a couple of days after you make infopass to go see them at the office.

They never notified us that they had received it.

I would surmise that no notice could mean one of many things, the worst being that they "never received it" - which in my opinion, is disastrous.

We checked online and it says our case is still in Missouri but this info is based on our initial application back in July.

Well, I think we will make an INFOPASS appointment.

Thanks!
