it depends on your BCT area. i will go BCT ft jackson and I heard that they will ask ppl who need to file N-400 while applicant stays in reception. so... most of my friend filled out all paperworks over there. and while they were getting basic training then they received U.S. citizenship before bct finished... fort sil?(idk if its correct or not) if you go there they want you fill out all paperworks again and it will take so long time to get it until finish AIT or.. before AIT done..

it depends on.... and you may have i-551 stamp on your passport... good luck with it.. hope you can join any branch that you want.. :)

i will be ship out may 26th.. I have my 10 yrs green card...and while I was pending case I was trying to give a shot for joining the army with i-551 stamp too...:/ but before you go to bct you may have to get green card as well...

Hey, would i get shipped to BCT with 1 year extension letter you receive after filling i-751?

i was told i could get enlisted but am not sure about going to boot camp.

I'm really confused, I hear some people say you can't join the Air Force because they require 10 year Green Card...was information updated within half of year?

https://chat.airforce.com/chat/

If you look here it says

"You must meet these basic requirements to enlist the US Air Force. To qualify for the US Air Force you must: Be a US citizen or have valid unrestricted alien registration card from the USCIS with at least 2 years remaining until expiration (You must obtain this status on your own, the Air Force cannot assist you with obtaining it). To be an Air Force Officer you must be a US Citizen."

I also tried talking to the live chat, but of course they are clueless and does not seem to know what Conditional Green card is, they just copy paste what it says above, but still they say 2 years. Air force reserve says 2 years, Air Guard says 2 years, I can't find anything about 10 year green card.

Also like it's stated above it does say (Unrestricted alien registration card) So I am still assuming you must be PLR

Yea, they'll expedite it and cover all of the costs, you'll need to talk to your recruiter about it. They usually do it when you graduate bootcamp. Lucky you with the interview!

I just briefly talked to recruiters over the phone. Navy reserve, Air force reserve, Air National Guard. Unfortunately they all do not seem to know what Conditional Green Card was, and did not give me straight answer. They just read to me what it was listed on the websites lol with no straight answer.

But as I do more research my hope to joining Air National Guard seems pretty dim, and probably will lean towards, Army National Guard / Army reserves, Navy Reserve.

My wife went in the Air National Guard, but she already had adjusted status by then. And with the Air Force they dont seem to like doing the naturalization thing while in basic training, they only did it for one token trainee, even though several were eligible, such as my wife. But she submitted her paperwork right after basic and was a US citizen in two months.

I just briefly talked to recruiters over the phone. Navy reserve, Air force reserve, Air National Guard. When you guys read this you must read "at least 2 years remaining until expiration."

That means unless you join the VERY DAY you enter the USA, you are ineligible to join the AF with a conditional green card. The day after you enter the USA you have less than 2 years on your conditional card.
