you have 1 circuit breaker with 2 separate switches on it, 15- 20 amp each, and they both tripped and won't reset? If the answer is yes, then it's the circuit breaker itself.

Is the Christmas tree being powered by this breaker? If yes, it may be the tree tripped it, and the breaker went bad and won't reset.

You may have more appliances plugged in to this circuit than last year. And now it has overloaded. Tripped the breaker, and breaker went bad.

Tark it sounds like the breaker went bad, (but something did cause it to trip) I dunno what your local codes are, the breaker is a few dollars and fairly easy to change (But you have to pull the main switch) The job takes 5 minutes.

Unplug everything and try reseting the breakers.

when you flip it back "on" does it seem to be snug in the "on" position? if yes, most likely your breaker. If not...may be breaker or short circuit, or some kinda overload.

the Xmas tree set could have caused the GFI that it's plugged into to fail. unplug that and click "TEST" and then try to reset breaker.

Follow these directions to a Tee.......do not deviate.....

1- feel around the circuit breaker panel with your fingers for loose screws.

2- Feel copper connections with both hands to see if loose

3- Feel bare wiring for corrosion

4- But first, turn off main switch

ok sounds like a bad breaker. But something still caused it to trip. So the problem may be 2 prong. Or just simply overloaded. Also, a GFI can fail just sitting there doing nothing. Any GFI.

You guys have no concept of Tarkculus....it'd cost you 5k in expenses to earn the 1k bonus. Wait, actually, that is the perfect example of Tarkculus.....

Poor baby. Are you giving him anything for it?

I give my kiddo hylands all natural cough syrup....

http://hylands.com/products

Bought giant peppermint stick to help his throat. He doesn't have a cough we just have to wait it out.

Went out to dinner.

El turkey soaking in brine......

Daughter crying for the turkey......

Poor girl

Given the crucial Polish-math correction just above, who is it who has no concept of Tarkculus, huh man?

---

Is it possible for half of a circuit-breaker to go bad, huh man? In the middle of nothing, the power in two downstairs rooms went out, dark man. Looked at breaker-box; half of one switch was not fully "on," off man. Turned it and its Siamese twin off and back on; no effect, no man.

Of course, this happened after-hours on the eve of a holiday, sigh man. If there's a bright spot amidst this darkness, it's that the affected rooms are probably (with the exception of a TV) the least crucial in the casa, hmmmph man.

Short of calling an electrician (this is not within my or Mrs. T-B.'s skill sets), what can be done, huh man?

Been there what a pain in the butt.

I changed two of ours, not hard to figure out the breaker is bad.

(Polish-math fails ignored) Without looking, box is tight as a drum, trust man.

Perhaps bad breaker plus overload, bad trip man.

Well aware that GFIs can fail even worse than some folks at Polish math, sigh man...

Wonder if replacing the breaker but not fixing any overload will blow out new breaker, huh man.
