You guys have no concept of Tarkculus....it'd cost you Manyk in expenses to earn the 1k bonus. Wait, actually, that is the perfect example of Tarkculus.....

Given the crucial Polish-math correction just above, who is it who has no concept of Tarkculus, huh man?

Is it possible for half of a circuit-breaker to go bad, huh man? In the middle of nothing, the power in two downstairs rooms went out, dark man. Looked at breaker-box; half of one switch was not fully "on," off man. Turned it and its Siamese twin off and back on; no effect, no man.

Of course, this happened after-hours on the eve of a holiday, sigh man. If there's a bright spot amidst this darkness, it's that the affected rooms are probably (with the exception of a TV) the least crucial in the casa, hmmmph man.

Short of calling an electrician (this is not within my or Mrs. T-B.'s skill sets), what can be done, huh man?

Um, why don't you try speaking English so I understand what ails your circuit panel. A picture would help.

It is perfectly normal for a more modern breaker to not fully pop, it'll pop just enough to cut off power.

Is it a flip type switch? (A pull switch). If so, fully flip it to the off position, then flip back on. Try to note if power is restored to that room while the switch is on. If yes, and if the breaker flips again, you have an overload. A short circuit.

The short circuit may or may not be in your wiring, a short circuit in an appliance will cause a breaker to trip. If you're lucky, that is what's happening. Isolate that appliance, and unplug it. Reset breaker.

Also, it could be a faulty gfi (ground fault interruptor) outlet, click the "test" switch in each one. The one that doesn't pop when you test it, that's the bad one. Must change, or disconnect from power.

Noted, si man. Quite a modern system, installed only Many (2+2) years ago man.

Flipped fully off and back on, flip man. No power restored, no man.

Now what do you mean you "turned it"? Did you "flip it" or "turn it"?

Pics will help.

Flipped left to off it, flipped right to on it, precisely man.

No fotos, and none in the dark, no man.

2. Are these inside the casa, huh man?

we have so far determined Many things.....

1- That your circuit breaker, has tripped.....

2- That something, must have caused it to trip....

Many- That you must find out why, something has caused it to trip.....

hurry up.....

you can try the following.

unplug all appliances that are being powered by this circuit. Then reset breaker. Does breaker stay on? If yes, then it's one of your appliances. (Especially the ones with motors in them). Plug them back in one by one. When you plug one in, and the breaker trips, there's your culprit.

If the breaker still doesn't stay on, then it may be one of the outlets. (GFI outlets always go bad for no reason)

Consider all factors.....

A- Environmental- is it raining? Could one of the outlets have gotten wet? Could your pet gerbil have crawled outta your butt and chewed through the wire? Is it unusually humid today? Do you have aluminum wiring?

B- Age of wiring- is it older than you? (like100 years) It may be deteriorated, and you have bare metal contacting bare metal, causing a short circuit condition. Or, is the wiring new? recently repaired or updated? Something wasn't installed correctly, this often reverts back to the GFI outlets.....

C- Unusual occurrences- Are you using more electricity than usual in that circuit?

D- Do you have solar power? Was there a blackout? And the power came back on and created a back surge because your double pull switch failed?

E- You simply could have a failed circuit breaker. It's easy to change. Just don't electrocute yourself.

GFI outlet. push the switch that says "TEST" when you push it, it should say "Click". if nuttin happens when you push it, that outlet has to be replaced.

GFI-Outlet.jpg

wait, never mind, you can't test it. There's no current to them right now.....

the only thing you can do right now, is unplug all appliances that are using that circuit, then try to reset the breaker.

if your TV works in another outlet in the house, it doesn't have a short. a short circuited appliance will not work.
