If you think you're not in pain you won't be. Apparently there are mental tricks that can be learned that greatly reduces you noticing the pain, but focus on the pain and you'll feel it a lot more.

It sometimes works for me. When the joints around my plate are hurting I just mentally really push the image of injecting cortisone into the joint and then it feeling better.

It doesn't seem to work for the other ones though, funny the way the brain works. I think it is because the other joints are arthritic and lock up/swell and the areas are my plate are just plain in pain.
