Becareful. You can easily give yourself an infection or hurt yourself by doing too much afterward. You're not supposed to lift more than 10lbs for 6 weeks.

It's major surgery after all. Trust me, when it messes up, it REALLY messes up. I was on antibiotics and tylenol 2s. I couldn't sit up without help after I laid down.

10 pounds for 6 weeks? The baby and the car seat is more than that when you leave the hospital....

As far as it was told to me last time, no real exercise (walking was encouraged), no sex, and no heavy lifting.

I know. I'd put the car seat in, go back and get my daughter. This was life. She was 9lbs as it was! It can be as low as 4 weeks if you heal well (which I didn't obviously) but my doctor said anything more than a jug of milk (approximately 10lbs) and you risk tearing internally before it heals. It's possible to make it so you never become pregnant again due to scar tissue if you do not heal correctly. Again, it's major surgery. I'm surprised you're not trying a VBAC. You're limiting how many kids you can have by multiple c-sections. The most I've heard of someone having is 4 but they normally only recommend 3. http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/c-section/expert-answers/c-sections/faq-20058380

They don't do VBACs at most Minnesota hospitals (I'd have to go 2 hours away to North Dakota) and I am completely uninterested in the complications of a vaginal delivery - prolapsed cervix, incontinence, tearing, etc.

You'll have to remember my last c-section was my choice as well. My obgyn did not want to do it and I was nowhere near labor - cervix not dilated, etc.

It is also very possible that I won't have more kids either way, it was kind of a fluke that after multiple miscarriages that I was able to carry a pregnancy. My insulin levels are insane, my egg reserve levels are like 40 year old low, and frankly, I'm not sure my body can handle another pregnancy. I'm already in literally constant pain that is not assuaged by pain killers and my hips have already started to spread. My poor cousin is a few weeks ahead of me and already on crutches because of it.

I think I got suckered in to maternity chat.....

I'll stop talking about it because the more I think about it, the more I want to complain.

Pregnancy sucks.

Really really sucks.

Plus, I'm peeing glucose but yet am hypoglycemic. My body sucks right now.

Plus plus, it pisses me off when people talk about VBAC like it is so easy to either get one or do. There is a reason that the hospital must be equipped with a team of surgeons and a high level NICU to handle a VBAC and it isn't because it is necessarily safe. A lot of rural or private American hospitals do not have a high level NICU or the level of staffing required to do a VBAC. My hospital has one maternity room, one. And they do one delivery every 2-3 days. Yep. The entire 3 county area has 2 obgyns.

Until this one. My body feels like it is falling apart. If this one is a boy, I'm done I tell you, done. If #3 is not a boy, I'm still done.

I wasn't aware that VBAC in the USA was such a complicated issue. You can get a VBAC done at any city hospital in Canada. But then we don't have to insure the hospital and doctors up the wazoo up there for malpractice. OB/GYNs are a dying breed in the USA.

Yes, I forget that you purposely had one. I'll remember in the future to not bring up the subject anymore, however, I do think you should take care of yourself after your child is born, because you just had MAJOR surgery in which people can and do die. I almost did.

It's easier for Doctors.

In cases like Nola where she lives in the middle of nowhere she doesn't have options.

Its not safer to have a repeat c-section for most women but liability insurance for doctors makes them want to avoid things they can't control. OB's are surgeons they can control a c-section they have zero control in a VB. Ob's will down play the risks associated with c-sections. My friend had hers burst open when she went pee, she had to hold her insides from falling all the way out while her mom called 911.

I do not believe that you can get a recto-vaginal fistula from a c-section or any sort of tearing in that region. It would also be difficult to get a prolapsed cervix/uterus with having had a c-section.

So, yes, a c-section could certainly save me from tearing or the pressure on the organs during childbirth that does cause women later to "leak".

I get having to go far to get to a decent hospital. I grew up in such a small area it was a 45 min drive, minimum, to get to the nearest one when my horse kicked me in the face.
