My body hurts like hell, but we are piling up wood for 2016.

That is a 129 year old spruce that was 112 feet tall. We're sledding them in by snow machine.

Gable on the left is three. He is just starting to grasp reading sentences. Donny on the right is four. We covered the Out of Africa human migration epochs and the resultant ethnic groups by global geography yesterday. It is integrated with the native American vs. European migrations to America, and mommy's Asian heritage. He is doing division in math now. School is every day here. Xmas break? lol. It is going to be a science symposium here.

I remember seeing films of Asian kids being driven academically, with the propaganda being how bad the kids' lives were having to study all the time. I wonder now. What we are doing is not only fun, but thrilling. Hard to believe you can do this and get away with it. Gable comes to us and says he wants to do school in the morning. The one on the right directs a lot of his own studies.

Usually it is a review of the previous day or a previous related lesson and then a new one. Three pages including diagrams for the four year old. It is high school level vocabulary so very soon his reading ability will be off the charts. Science - lol. Today he ordered a lesson on chipmunks. So it will be a lesson where they fit in on the Phylogenetic tree, their morphology, life cycle - it's work for me to prepare these lessons but well worth the effort.

Why are you killing trees that old ? :crying:

Maybe you should go live in Asia, with the smart Asian kids. :)

can i have you number so I can forward them on rather than let them go to my voice mail?

Why are you using your personal phone for business purposes? :bonk:

Several dogs have been relinquished over the past month or so from "country" homes. Each of these homes gave the exact same reason for giving up their pet - the dog runs or strays off the property. We always suggest ways this can be prevented (putting up a fence, using an underground fence, getting a kennel, allowing dog to stay in house and be out only under supervision, etc). None of the homes wanted to do any of these because they think it is wrong to restrain a dog if they "live in the country".

Is living in the country an excuse for being irresponsible? There are at least as many, if not more dangers to your pet in the country as there are in town. You made a commitment to keep your pet safe when you chose to take it home. Why have you decided to break that commitment and give your pet up rather than taking the time and making the effort to correct the problem?

Yes, we will accept your dog if it runs or strays off your property. But we will make sure the dog goes to a home better than your home - one where they will honor the promise of love, safety and responsibility for the life of the pet. A home that will not let laziness or lack of convenience get in the way of a beautiful relationship. A home that will take responsibility seriously. But definitely not your home.

Are people really that stupid that they don't put up some sort of fence and then surrender the dog?

These country people could always bring their dogs inside the house during the harsh winter.

They are just making poor silly excuses to surrender the dogs!

The county should ban these people forever from getting a dog.

oh yes they are that bad.

Those would be the same kind of ppl who would of done the same if they lived in town, or the ones who get rid of a pet because they had a baby.

But I'm also one who didn't put a fence when I was in the country, it's to expensive but I trained my dogs to stick around.

well, you don't need to fence up the whole yard if it is too expensive.

Something like this will help too:

Ya no! That would make them bait where I lived.

We don't have any coyotes or coywolves or anything around here.

Our dog was trained and bred to understand boundaries, but we still got an electric fence when she was allowed to run free in the backyard. Even just from a liability standpoint, if your dog were to run off and bite someone, let's say, I wouldn't want to risk it. We had talked to a lot of breeders of a couple of different breeds of dogs, and with many of them, they wouldn't even sell you the dog without a fenced in back yard, preferably 6 feet (which was just crazy).

yah.. 6 feet wooden type fence will be better.. not the metal mesh type fence.

I have one medium foster dog (less than 40 lb) who can scale our metal mesh fence like a spiderman and escape!

I wanna choke tiff again, she keeps making asinine comments like "see? The eraser shreds make a mess". Now the kid is afraid to do her homework on her own desk.

When I bought the kids desk, she said "she doesn't need a desk". So the kiddo started out not wanting the desk. And refused to use it.

Tiffs mouth really needs to be stitched shut

Tiff says the dumbest kupa that a mother can say. Thoughtless words.....

my mom always made sure we each had our own desks. but, we had to sweep the eraser shreds off the desk each time after we used it and throw it in the bin. you guys can compromise. make a mess, that's ok, just remember to clean it up.
