Whatever. There's nothing outrageous about the available health plans. The whole system sucks, for sure, but that was the case long before Obamacare. People who never had access to health insurance now have options. Some might find that outrageous, I find it outrageous that there are still too many without access. Thanks in large part to Republicans in the south keeping people from having the access that Obamacare would grant them. Almost a million right here in Florida. That's outrageous indeed.

Well duh. Only Democrats and liberals need affordable, subsidized health care and welfare. Republicans pay their own way. There is not one registered Republican in the entire country receiving public assistance. Not 1.

Of course not. No Republican ever went bankrupt because of medical bills either. And no Republican ever relied on ER care that they didn't pay for.

Don't disagree. Obama care is something, where there was nothing. A lot of people who say, I don't want to pay for someone elses health care., don't realize they already are and at a bat shat crazy price.

Obama care is not a good system,,. Now who has the real solution. ? Say we repeal it. What then. How much GDP % then?

There is a lot outrageous about the plans. First and foremost, at least in NY State, one cannot even get a platinum plan even if one wants and is willing to pay for one (like me). And No PPOs allowed in the state. So I am being forced to drop my plan, one that I gladly overpaid for, to accept what I consider a mediocre plan with much less choice, and no freedom to go to the doctors of my choice without a "gatekeeper".

You can mistakenly crow all you want about Obamacare, but all it is, is a massive transfer of wealth - and even worse than the stealing from the pockets of the hard working to fund this healthcare takeover - is the limitation of choice and lessened quality of care that inevitably results.

Obamacare is not going to be repealed. There will be tweaks around the edges but Obamacare is here to stay. One of these days, they should add Medicare to each and every insurance exchange and let people buy into Medicare at prevailing rates - i.e. at medical cost + 2% overhead vs. medical cost + 15-20% overhead. That would light some fire under the collective arses of private insurers. Or it would put them out of business bringing about a single payer system by default. Either result would be worthwhile.

There's more choice on the exchanges than what I have through my employer so quit that whining. I also just looked up a random zip code in NY state (12201) and found a list of platinum plans on NY state's health insurance exchange for 2015. Health Republic Insurance and MVP Healthcare offer several platinum plans each. Zero deductible and all.

Maybe YOUR'E happy with having to pay $500-700 per month in premiums then have a $12-13,000 deductible, but I for one do NOT call that affordable health care, I call it legalized extortion.

I don't have a 12-13K deductible nor do I pay $500-700 per month. Between me and my employer, the premium is higher than $500-700 a month but the deductible is still much, much lower even though I do have a high deductible plan. If what you say is true, then all I can say is that Alaska truly sucks. I hope they pay you for what health insurance costs in your neck of the woods. If not, I'd recommend a relocation to greener pastures.

Premium doubled

Thank you Obama

My mom's on Obamacare and they jacked up her premium a bit (I forget how much) for 2015.

BUT this new insurer (a non-profit) is now in the market and their rates are significantly lower so she'll be saving money anyway.

Competition works!

I would go out on a limb and say even you would admit there is a good bit that needs to be changed about obama care.

But it's a step.

It's like being plucked out of the ocean by a rusty freighter, and a lot of people don't like the ship so their answer is jump back in the ocean.

So your mom switched plans ?
