Be happy though because health care inflation is at an all time low.

That is a good thing, indeed. Not only for the privately insured but also for the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Wow it went up more in one month, than it went up all of last year. In one month it went up almost 2/3 of the annual rise. Does not sound like the affordable care act is making it more affordable

uh..that's an Annualized Rate but just for one month. At that rate in 12 months, it would still rise the same amount, annually

Medical costs vs inflation.

So you are saying that someone born now will see them go up from 20% of GDP now to 40% when they start working.

And that is OK?

Who has a projection of US healthcare being 40% of GDP? It is currently at 18 % and is projected to grow to 20% in 2022, mostly due to retiring baby boomers.

You really are grammatically challenged. These are annual rates as the chart clearly states right on top in bold.

No, it is not okay. The cost curve needs to be bent down further. At least it is bent down now after having raged on for decades.

While the rest of the world remains at 10%. I thought Obama care was going make costs go down ?

You are insisting that all rates are annual. So the two % in one month would be equal to the other rates.

What does it matter to the consumer if their premiums increase but inflation stays down?

Not only that, but the best way to do medical deflation is cost containment by limiting patient options to higher quality care, which is exactly what is going on.

If costs aren't going up much, but quality of service is going down - then low medical inflation is masking a transition to third-world medical delivery. Not a lot to be grateful for.

No it was fairly clear that if we did nothing it will eventually be worse, ACA will simply bend the curve while adding more insured

If that is true then my mortgage company needs to lower my rate to 0.0083333333333333%

It said medical costs rose 2.2 % last month. If gas was two bucks a gallon and it went up 2 % last month it would be 2.20 right

The inflation rate for Health Care in America is stated to be 2.2 % annually Divided by the number of months you would have a monthly increase as follows

2.2 / 12 = 0.1833333333333333 % monthly increase

If you bought $1000 worth of health care last month that would cost you more this month "

(1000 * 0.1833333333333333 %) +1000 =

1001.833

1001.83 Nov 1003.67 Dec 1005.51 Jan 1007.35 Feb 1009.20 Mar 1011.05 Apr 1012.90 May 1014.76 Jun 1016.62 Jul 1018.49 Aug 1020.35 Sep 1022.22 Oct

Inflation will compound throughout the year until you have an increase from 1000 in October 2014 to 1022.22 in costs in 2015
