Bush's approval sags to record low in new poll

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush's approval rating stands at 30 percent in the latest Newsweek poll, the lowest approval rating recorded for the president in that poll's history.

In the first poll conducted for Newsweek since the State of the Union last Tuesday, 58 percent of respondents said "they wish the Bush presidency was simply over." Nearly 86 percent of Democrats shared that sentiment, compared to 59 percent of Independents, and 21 percent of Republicans. The poll also indicates Bush's sagging approval rating may seriously impact the race for his replacement.

Nearly half -- 49 percent -- of all registered voters would rather see a Democrat elected president in 2008 while just 28 percent want a Republican.

The poll, conducted between January 24 and 25, has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

I'm sure Hanoi Jane and Tim Robbins love it too.

Hey, your boy sucks. Told you that all along and it seems more and more Americans come to realize just how much he sucks. No boost from the State of the Union Address. That tells you just how much in the hole he really is. And yet the moron keeps on digging. Unbelievable.

Like the mis-management of the war, culminating in the recent election result?

I'm sure our enemies appreciate your support

Someday I hope you'll drop that tired red herring. You're either with "him" or with "them" right? Must be comforting for you that these things can be boiled down to binary opposition ;)

Spare me that garbage.

More like a mismanaged act of aggression culminating in the recent civil war that rages across Iraq.

Not sure that he'll complete his term now.

  1. Dems could introduce a resolution to impeach, based on simple-majority in Congress
  2. They could easily get lots more due to the Ramos/Compean (Border Patrol officers, jailed for shooting a Mexican smuggler in the rear) as many Pubs are displeased
  3. 2/3 majority (which Dems don't have as a party) needed in Senate, but enough Pub Senators may support (see #2)

So, you think opposition to the war in Iraq does not encourage the enemy. OK great.

As a free democracy we allow dissent and protest to the government's policies and actions, but don't fool yourself into thinking this does not encourage our enemies in this war.

I don't for one second believe that my support of the President or the war in Iraq has no consequences. I'm sure such support makes our enemies hate us even more. That's fine, they already want to kill us, and this started long before Bush. I'd rather fight them in Iraq then on US soil.
