Does anyone know if reporting a typo on the NOA adds to the processing time? I called in to report a typo on my name when I received the NOA, and they told me I'd get a letter in the mail saying it was taken care of. I haven't received that letter, and I can't call back til about a week from today (45 days from when I called in).

And if and when I do call back (if I don't receive it this week), all they'll do is put in another request to fix the typo. And then I'll have to wait 45 more days. I'm just afraid that doing this will delay the processing of my GC

What was the typo?

If it was the Applicants name spelled wrong or other critical info it is important that it be corrected.

I would follow up with a letter pointing out the typo include a copy of the NOA .

I am sure if you called and they noted the correction you should receive future NOA's with the corrected info.

They mispelled my first name on both my NOA 1's for the AOS and EAD. I called them about this as soon as I got the NOA 1's and they told me the same thing, it could take up to 45 days before it was corrected. Welll, in my case nothing is corrected. I called USCIS again and the lady I spoke to this time told me to send a fax to the service centre where my petition is, which is what I am going to do next. I am a little annoyed by all this, how much work can it be to change 1 letter in a name.....sigh

They put the wrong middle name. They put my maiden middle name instead of my married middle name.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll send a follow-up fax if I don't hear anything this week. Yup, it is rather annoying.

All you can do is bring it to their attention, DOCUMENT all communications you send them regarding the typo, keep copies of the Confirmed Fax and try not to worry too much about this.

It will get fixed, unformtunatly you have to help the ninny's at the USCIS service centers & constantly remind them of thier own shortcomings. They are inept at best. WHich is good enough for Govt. work!
