What to wear to the Interview?

Just wondering what others wore to the interview. I Am planning on wearing jeans and a button up shirt with my northface (as it looks likely to rain all morning). Is it better to be dressed in business attire?

Just being presentable is what they expect from you. No need to overdo it, just don't show up in Adidas training suits, haha.

Its really not an issue, I wore jeans and a button up shirt and most people were dressed in a similar manner. You definitely don't need business attire!

You can wear whatever you like. London only sees you from the waist up.

I felt better being in a nice jacket (which I never took off as it was FREEZING in there!) I saw a woman in a hoody with her hood UP the whole time, and couldn't help being a bit judgey-wudgey!!

I'd say look smart but remember that you'll likely be stood outside quite a while and waiting inside for even longer so best to be wearing what you're comfortable in and have a quick look at the weather forecast.

Last time I went I was suited and booted, my smartness was probably outweighed by how uncomfortable I looked as suit and tie is definitely not my normal attire!

Next time will probably be comfy smart trousers and top, luckily my overcoat is ok for formal or casual wear.

Yeah...I've read somewhere that smart clothes are best...but after how much time/money/effort we've been through to apply for this visa I'm positive they can't turn you away just by what you're wearing on the day! My interview isn't in sight, but I will probably wear a plain jumper with some jeans.

I know it's not quite the same but I have been to the embassy twice before for J1 visa appointments and have never dressed overly smart, or seen anyone who has. I think smart casual is fine

Smart casual is definitely fine. Heck, jeans are fine. In London, it is not a big deal at all what you look like at interview. When we went for the interview, there was a young woman waiting for interview who was wearing a very strappy visible thong poking out from her extreeeeemely low-cut trousers. I think it went fine for her. There were also two guys dressed like 1970s era businessmen, which was kind of awesome.
