[I-130] Case has not cleared all required security checks at this time. Exactly what are they checking on?

I, like many others, inquired on my late processing and received the dreaded, "your case has not cleared all required security checks at this time." excuse.

I would like to know if anyone has info on what kind of security checks they are preforming? Is it just a last name check?

Are they preforming this check on just me, the petitioner, or on the beneficiary as well?

Seems silly, because I travel a lot and never get flagged nor my husband who travels to the states often to visit.

From what I understand, they contract out for background checks (on both petitioner and beneficiary). There was something in the news a while back about USCIS having issues with one of the contractors, that is the only reason I know this.

I don't know...I guess if your name pops a flag with them, they have to dig a little deeper. Could be that is what is going on. If that is what they told you, there isn't much you can do really. Good luck, hang in there :).

Same here, can't be that hard to do a simple background check. If only they enforced a policy like that with people who immigrate illegally and in the DACA program.
