Adjustment of Status - Green Card - Processing Time

Hey All!

I submitted by I-485 and had my biometrics done in March of 2014. I got a letter in the mail in Mary saying that they received by I-485 and fingerprints and that my interview for the Adjustment of Status might be waived. Since then, nothing in the mail. For those who have their Green Card already, how long did it take from the time that you did your biometrics until receipt of your Green Card?

I'm in Buffalo, NY - it just seems like it's taking forever!

Slow there in Baltimore, too? I know it's silly to be frustrated, but I feel as if this is the only thing that's keeping me in semi-limbo! I'm married, we have a beautiful daughter, I'm employed - I hate having it hanging in the back of my mind! Throughout this whole K1 Visa process, there have been so many "what ifs", I feel as if though we need something definite and concrete now!

I remembered i read someone who's intervew got waived and it took 8 months for her to get the green card . Maybe it's on its way now to your door step.

Probably. USCIS has a tool on their website to check on your case status. It isn't informative at all. I think that we're to receive further notification about the interview part, although the Green Card being on its way sounds better lol.

That's what I noticed , but I guess it's a case to case basis! USCIS is just very unpredictable, but if your interview was waved it means that you convinced them with your application. Patience is a virtue!

Those that get the waiver to not interview typically wait longer than those that receive an interview. 8-12+ months wait sometimes. You can find other posts about those with the interview and their wait times in the AOS progress forum.

Thank you - I wonder what the reason would be as to why those who may possibly be waived from the interview would take longer than those that have to do it.

I submitted my AOS since March too and had the waiver letter in June but haven't heard anything since then. Mine is Atlanta Field Office.

I would also like to understand this better.... we have also been informed that ours is likely an interview waiver case, and processing is 9- 12 months. Why, if our case appears solid, legit, etc, does it take them that long to process it? Unless they are just dumping these files to the side until someone decides to get around to it? what is the rationale behind it? If the case is so straight forward that no interview is needed, then why in God's name does it take a year to process that?!

I called USCIS and visited the field office but they weren't much help. They just said "It is being processed, just wait etc". Frustrating to say the least!

Have you thought about extending your employment authorization card? Will it be expiring within the next couple of months? I am worried about applying for an extension and paying the fee just to have my green card come shortly after.

Have you thought about extending your employment authorization card? Will it be expiring within the next couple of months? I am worried about applying for an extension and paying the fee just to have my green card come shortly after.

Mine expires in May next year. I think I'm going to give it until January to see if I get any sort of notification. I hope that by then I'll have SOMETHING, anything lol.
