So tonight I return from a trip and find two letters from USCIS in the mailbox. One is good, it states they will be able to use my previous fingerprints for my EAD/AP renewal (It lists EAD only, but I'm guessing AP too?) and the other letter is CONTINUANCE - basically I responded to a RFE in January when they asked for a translation of my international birth certificate. My (last name) BC contains letters such as š, ć and I guess when the translation was printed, those letters weren't printed correctly or I don't know what happened so they say that I said my last name had only 2 letters instead of 5 and now they are asking me to confirm my last name. How can I print the š and ć letters from my last name as s and c it if then won't match my BC? I'm confused. Also, it says the letter is to be returned to DHS Sacramento, don't know why.

But I guess this is good news, at least someone touched my case even though there are no changes on my online case status. It's probably because my congressman got involved :)

We finally got notice that our I-485 was approved and the Green Card is in production. Took just over a year! (we mailed the AOS package on 11/15/14).

We did two things recently that may have helped us finally get noticed:

No. 1, we called the NSC in early November and made a service request about why it was taking longer than the normal processing time. The day that they finally replied to this request (by e-mail) was the same day that it was approved.

No. 2, we sent out the EAD/AP renewal package two weeks ago. In the past, some people have reported that this may help speed up the I-485 approval.

Timeline

I filed my AOS concurrently and it was received in NOV 25th 2014. My first green card interview took place on the 24th NOV 2015. Since i live in west Texas, the interview was held in Irving TX. I sent all my files with the help of this website, which helped me a lot and saved me a lot of time and money. I'd like to thank every one who has helped me through out the process. My appt was at 10:15 and I showed up like 10 minutes earlier. I didn't wait in the lobby that much. entering the facility felt just like going thru the airport check points, i hate being rushed. However, the security appeared friendly. We gave our interview notice to the customer service and sat down. 10-15 minutes later a federal agent called my name and greeted us. we were escorted to a room. we sat down on chairs across the agent desk which were sort of far from the desk. i thought it was weird, but i guess so the agent have a better whole view of my wife and I. he introduced him self and asked us to take oath to say the truth. then asked my wife first about my name, my parents name, date of birth, address, what year we met, what year we got married, where did we meet, any previous marriage (yes), divorce decree. then he asked me about my wife's birthday, step daughter name, but did not ask me about my wife's parents name. he asked me about the address what kind of job i do. saw my passport and EAD and TX ID. my wife told him she was from rosewell new mexico and that started a whole different topics off our interview which we talked for quite some time and made the interview be friendly and smooth. he told us about his background and how he became working at the office. i thought he talked more about himself than me and my wife. However, some of his questions were indirect but rather around the question. for example my wife is starting a new job. so he asked if it was a promotion( trying to see if she is making more money which means meeting the minimum requirement for poverty line). also both were in the military and they kept talking about that for a while. he then told me we got married fast (5 months) my wife told him we wanted to live the right way and be a good example to my step daughter n then he said he didn't mean it in a bad way. he then asked us if we have any evidence to give. we gave him joint car papers, joint bank account that we hardly use, joint tax return, joint apartment lease, joint car insurance, and i added internet and electricity which was not joint but had same address, and sh*t load of pictures, like 100 pic, which he went through and then was skipping my wife said. luckily he gave us the photos back. he then told us that there are 4 gound rules, either to approve, disapprove, ask for more evidence, or appeal, and if we have any questions. i told him i don't have any questions really. then we left the office. my case got approved the same day few hours later. My advice is to be calm and yourself and not to over think about it and become nervous. Unfortunately many people over think and search videos about the interview on youtube and see videos that lawyers post showing how bad the interview can be. in many cases it is not that way. lawyers just want money and use scare tactics. I went there thinking I was gonna get asked 100 question like about my religion or race or about ISIS or some stuff like that.

I think I'm literally the only one from the Nov 2014 filers who's left with no word from USCIS whatsoever after the interview was held in May 2014 :(

Am also still hanging in here waiting. No response yet. Also had interview in May. I contacted them several times and it was the same generic response.

Am thinking of scheduling an infopass appointment soon to know what is going on. :(

I've already been to 3 InfoPass appointments and trust me it's no different than the generic response you receive when you contact them except you waste your time going there. At least that was my case all three times I went to USCIS in Chicago (or maybe that's just Chicago). Maybe it's worth giving it a try in your state.

I'd honestly have easier time dealing with this waiting game if only they tell me what the hold up is, so at least I know why I'm waiting and what I'm waiting on.

I finally received my green card today. It was a long journey, had they waited 4 more months to approve my i-485, I would have gotten the 10 yr green card instead of the conditional one. But it's all good :)

Good luck to all of you still waiting!

Hey guys, I finally received my green card yesterday! Thank God!!

However, i need clarification please, It says it expires 2yrs (2018) from now however i was under the impression that the two years should have been counting since i submitted the application. My marriage 2yrs anniversary is this October, when do i have to file to remove the condition? Before my wedding 2yrs anniversary or i have to wait another 2yrs?

Please advise. Thanks.

It's not your 2nd year wedding anniversary but two years from the date you were issued that green card (issue date from your card). Congrats!
