The rules changed in June 2014. All medicals are valid for 1 year only. VJ users are receiving RFE's for expired medicals and being requested to submit a new medical. You may get a request for a new medical and the cost ranges from $250-$500.

My medical expires June 30 2015 and I expect to get an RFE for a new one.

Also, can you fill in your timeline please?

Extracted from I-693 instruction dated March 2015 at the bottom which says within one year must be submitted. Now its up to you if you want to undertake medical exam again but totally non-sense.

What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical examination overseas? If you were admitted as a: K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and 3. A. B. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then: You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination, and: C. (1) (a) The panel physician did find a class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility, and you have complied with the terms and conditions of the waiver.

They changed the policy last year. So now you must submit your medical with 1 year of having it done, but it will expire within 1 year of submitting it.

So the form I-693 was issued on March 2015 means it is newer than the above news you found in USCIS website. Basically they are saying the same thing- one year validity however that one year means you have to submit your I-485 within one year of your overseas medical exam.

Hello All,

We are November 2014 filer too. USCIS received the paperwork on November 20th. We then received RFE and sent back whatever was asked by USCIS. RFE was received on January 7th. On USCIS web site it said we should hear back within 60 days (about March 8th). We still have NOT heard anything back from USCIS. Is it normal for it to take this long?

Thank you All.

That is more than 60 days already so you can definitely call USCIS and inquire about your case.

I received RFE for my AOS also. Sent requested paperwork last week and yesterday, after 6 days, I got an update that says 'Request for Evidence was Received' and 'will begin working on your case again'.

We are in exactly the same position as you. November filers and our RFE was received on Jan 20th, heard nothing since then. We called USCIS a few times over the last few months, most recently a few days ago, and they said as we are still within processing times there is nothing they can do. One nice lady did put in a service request and the result was just that we are waiting to be scheduled for interview, although the USCIS website hasn't been updated show this. The new processing dates are released at the end of this month I think, so hopefully we will then be able to do something. Until then, we're kinda powerless. But if we're in the same boat, I'd say this is normal and we are just unlucky for not having heard sooner like so many others have.

Hi Guys,

We had our interview on June 19th and i think everything went well, the officer said if we didn't get a RFE in the mail within 2 weeks then we should expect the greencard in the mail. Its been weeks now and still update on the USCIS site, no mail, no sms and am getting impatient. Dont know if something is wrong, i was with the impression that we should get the greencard in the mail 2 weeks after interview date. Can anyone shed some light or is anyone in same predicament.

Thanks.
