I don't see why you couldn't apply now. Send AP application with NOA 1 from your I-485, include a copy of the biographical page of his passport and his most recent I-94, all that with a request to expedite. Some say you can even do it in person by infopass appointment but I'm not sure if that's the case.

My advice is start another thread in the general AOS forum, more people will reply and possibly have better advice.

The only part I'm not sure about it if you can apply and send expedite request at the same time. Hopefully someone with better knowledge will chip in.

Also, dump the lawyer!

Criteria for Expedited Processing of an Application

USCIS will expedite an application, including an application for a travel document, Form I-131, in certain situations, which may include:

• Severe financial loss to company or person;
• Emergency situations;
• Humanitarian reasons;
• Nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States;
• Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: The request must come from an official U.S. Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to the Government.);
• USCIS error; or
• Compelling interest of USCIS.

You may submit an expedite request by contacting the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283, or by submitting a written request and supporting documentation with your application.

AOS changed on 12/22/2014 ready to schedule interview

Any one in chicago received interview notice ?

Chicago seems to be quite slow compared to other cities. I am lowering my expectations. On the other hand, there are probably many more of us who haven't gotten interviews/updates than those who have. The people who have had fast approvals are just more inclined to post their success here.

Biometrics: 12/31

Question for those who have gotten RFE's for their EAD/AP and successfully responded to them: did you get 1 RFE yellow form in the mail, or 2 (separate RFE requests for the EAD & AP)?

The reason I ask is that even though the online status for both the I-765 and I-131 changed to "RFE request mailed", we only got 1 yellow RFE letter in the mail. That RFE letter specifically stated it was for the I-765, but it had the wrong receipt # (it had the receipt # that was assigned to the I-131 on our NOA). Furthermore, they have successfully received our RFE reply, but now only the I-131 status has changed to "RFE response was received".... very frustrating. Hope that makes sense.

Hi everyone,

my AP/EAD were approved on the 18th so I'm just wondering how long til the status is updated to 'card is being sent to production' etc because the status hasn't updated yet from 'we ordered a new card...' and it's been 6 days now.

Today I got AP in the mail, no EAD though. Am I still going to get a combo card or did they for some reason decide to send them separately? I applied for both at the same time. I'm confused.

I think it's completely random. Some just get approved all of a sudden, some get interview letters and some get interview waiver letters. I've had no news re: my I-485 since they received my RFE response on January 6th.

Any updates about your AP?
