The real problem with Americans and their disrespect for Obama—according to a Canadian

I agree with this. Just read about Watts. He sounds like he could have been on the money. I think the TP has hurt the GOP in more ways than it could have helped them. Powell was a good man throughout. I really thought he should have been the first black president. His military experience plus his position within the Bush Administration would have been golden.

I know that Mccain grabbed Palin to try and counter Obama with a woman VP. If he grabbed Powell, that would have been a fight to see.

McCain/Powell would have been a strong ticket.

I was really hoping for McCain/Lieberman.

Since Obama was the first black presidential nominee that looked to win, Mccain needed an ace in the hole. Lieberman would be a good choice IF he wasn't running against Obama. Palin was the best move he could have made, considering the circumstances.

I think there quite a few people who voted for Obama because he was black; but a large number of them did it because they wanted to be a part of voting for the first black President.

Or simply to assuage their feelings of "white guilt" the media has foisted on them. Hardly the motive for a prudent political choice.

Or maybe because he is half white.

I'm white, not guilt ridden and I voted for the man. Not because he's black, half black or half white but because I supported the main tenets of his platform. And because there was absolutely no way that I would either want Sarah Palin a heartbeat away from the Oval Office or Mitt Romney in it. That's why I voted for Obama. Nothing to do with his race or mine.

Hey, there was a significant percent of the black voting population that were saying he wasn't "authentically black". That kind of "shade racism" always mystified me...

Is his mom white, yes or no?

That makes sense.

Or it could be other things......

What UB was trying to say on the slide were the ignorant folks who didn't think Obama was "black" enough because he didn't exhibit the traits that are usually associated with black people as a whole.

Wow; you momentarily make sense regarding immigration, and then you start talking rubbish again. <_<

So according to the self-appointed VJ race-baiters, Morgan Freeman isn't a black man? Cuz that's who (among other black people) said that O'bama wasn't authentically black.

Any more ill-informed, vitriolic, hateful stuff y'all would like to post?

For years I used to work every day in Harlem. During the 2008 campaign, one day I encountered one of the most vile leaflets I had ever seen posted around the neighborhood. It was attacking Obama for not being black enough, with obscene references urging people not to vote for him, and I was deeply offended. And I was (and am) no fan of Obama.

Do these people represent all black people?
