IMHO the country turned racist at the inception of slavery. Racism is decreasing with every passing generation but it's still very much out there, made all the more evident by the disrespect shown by many to the current POTUS.

1992 Clinton 83% of black vote

1996 Clinton 84%

2000 Gore 90%

2004 Kerry 88%

Not sure what you mean about voting for their own kind, since in the above elections no mainstream presidential candidate was black, so it would have been impossible for a black person to vote for a black candidate.

And incidentally Obama got 43% of the white vote in 2008, and 95% of the black vote. So you can see who was voting for their own kind.

So what? They voted for the candidate of the same party that Obama represented. The share of the black vote that Obama garnered over his white predecessors is up only slightly. The black vote support is not based on Obama's skin color but on his party affiliation and the platform which he and the party represent.

With all that black vote support for the black candidate that you claim exists, how did the black candidate Allen West lose his race against that white cracker Patrick Murphy in this toss-up race in 2012? If black voters who usually throw the vast majority of their support behind the Democrats are all so racist and vote based on skin color as you allege, Allen West should have been a shoo-in. But he wasn't. He lost. Same as your theory.

Of course not. There might be some that do that - on both sides of the aisle. But by and large people will base their vote not on skin color.

That was my point. People here are acting like black people didn't vote at all until Obama showed up. There's been a few black candidates who ran for the white house.

I think there quite a few people who voted for Obama because he was black; but a large number of them did it because they wanted to be a part of voting for the first black President. While that's not the best reason to vote for somebody, it doesn't make the person racist; it just means they wanted to be a part of history.

If the next black candidate gets the same type of turnout, that might be a little different.

It would be interesting if the next black candidate was Republican and he/she got the same results from blacks. That would be pretty racist of blacks but I don't think Republicans would get too upset.
