Heads Up re: medical in Dortmund (Frankfurt filers)

Just letting you guys know if you're wanting to get your medical done in Dortmund and have a December/January interview then you need to either make your appointment there immediately or you're going to have to go to Frankfurt.

We called today to schedule my husband's medical exam and they said the earliest appointment was December 16th. So, we're having to cancel that appointment and we're going down to Frankfurt (3 hour drive, ugh) Monday to have it done there since there are no appointments required for US visa applicants.

I'm kinda ticked simply because my husband called not even two weeks ago and asked how far ahead of schedule he should call to arrange an appointment and the woman was like "ohh, 1.5 weeks would be plenty enough time". So you mean in 2 weeks they filled up slots all the way til mid-December? I kind of doubt it, lol.

I had the same issue with Berlin when I went through the visa process. When I called for an appointment, they told me that the next appointment they had available was for 1.5 months later. Needless to say that I did not want to wait that long, so I went to Frankfurt instead (a train ride of almost 4 hours). The physicians in Frankfurt are very nice and professional, though. I am glad I went there.

I've heard great things about Frankfurt, but I figured with the lady saying last time we'd get an appointment within 1-2 weeks of calling in that it wouldn't be necessary for us to drive down there. So what I gathered is we need the following for Frankfurt:

- 180 EUR fee

- German passport

- Case Number

- Impfpass

- any medical records regarding recent operations (husband had a calcium buildup removal on his neck done last month - was only cosmetic, though)

- 4 US passport photos

Looks good! I think I also brought four passport pictures, but they only used one of them (I am not sure if I remember correctly, though). My whole medical, including waiting times, was maybe 1.5 hours. They were very efficient.

PS: Where in Oklahoma are y'all moving to? We're in Edmond.

We're moving back to my hometown, Broken Arrow. I just write Tulsa on here since not many people know BA and it's part of the Tulsa Metro area anyway, haha.

Nice! I haven't been to Broken Arrow but I am in Tulsa regularly because my husband's uncle and his family live there.

We practically live in Tulsa since my parents have their HVAC company close to the BA/Tulsa city limits. My aunt and uncle live in Jenks really close to the 'City of Faith' tower, so we're constantly meeting up at the big restaurant hubs to hang out with the family.

We really enjoy it there, despite everyone saying it's boring ever since I can remember. Now that they have the new outlet mall coming to the Catoosa area there should be another big boost for the city's growth. There's already so much more to do there since I've moved.

And Edmond is around Tinker AFB, right?

Edmond's to the north of OKC (between OKC and Guthrie), Tinker is more to the East - South East. We're probably moving to Guthrie/Logan County next year or the year after, though - land is just way too expensive here in Edmond!

I really like the Tulsa area. There are all those awesome museums and old mansions all over the city, and you can actually walk or bike around downtown (which is almost impossible in OKC and Edmond, even though there have been some efforts to improve the infrastructure for pedestrians lately). We Germans like our walks, you know!
