Hello Fellow Visa Journey members, i am currently married to my wife (US Citizen). She currently doesnt meet the income requirement for affidavit of support, and we found some one willing to be a joint sponsor. I read on somewhere that the income from my wife CANNOT be pooled with that of the joint sponsor to meet the income requirement. I want to know if this is true because even that of the sponsor will not reach the income requirement unless it is pooled with that of my wife being the petitioner. And the joint sponsor doesnt have any other dependent because she is unmarried with no kids. I would appreciate any information or response before i can go ahead and submit my application.

You wife needs income enough to support her , you , any dependent and anyone else she sponsored. A joint sponsor needs to support themselves, you, any of their dependents and anyone else they sponsored. Unless they live together they can not pool incomes.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

So in essence what you are saying is since my wife could not meet the income requirement and i need a joint sponsor. my wife sponsors herself, 3 dependent kids but not me while the joint sponsor sponsors me and herself? if thats the case then i think that is clear and can work. So if this is what you mean does my wife still need to submit i-864?

Hi!

I am not sure if you accidentally post your question on my post or what. :) It's kind of different topic. I would suggest you open a new topic for you to get more answers. Anyways, the joint sponsor should be able to count you and his/her dependents if she/he have one and add you.Your joint sponsor does not need to support your wife even your wife unless she is her/his dependent. Your wife needs to submit the I-864 whether she can support u and her dependents or not.
