RFE Received Online

I just went online to check my status and it states I have a RFE. I followed the guide so I'm surprised. I'm also surprised it came so fast as they just received my package on Oct 16th. Does this mean they are already working on my case? How long does it take to receive the RFE reason? Can I call to find out so I can get my response ready. Once they receive what they are looking for how long will it take? Thanks!

You have to wait to receive it in the mail, they will tell you nothing over the phone.

They typically give out RFE's with the physical NOA1's. We don't get emailed stuff since DCF doesn't allow the E-notification form, so I received my RFE with my paper NOA1.

Hi. I sent my I-130 petitioner in for my wife who is in the Philippines. I also got an rfe last week . It was for the NSO copy of the marriage certificate. I have seen and read on here that you could just send in a copy of original local civil register marriage certificate as long as it was signed and dated by everyone. That information is wrong you need the NSO copy. If you did not send that in, I am pretty sure that is what the rfe is for. I sent in my I-130 about the same time as you did and I got an rfe for that

Mine rfe took 5 days to arrive.Our cases has a lot of similarities, that is why I think USCIS is asking for the NSO copy of marriage certificate. You sent your I-130 on Oct 16th I sent my on Oct 4th both went to Nebraska service center. I received a rfe pretty quick like you, within a month time.Also like you I was pretty sure I did everything right I follow the guides, I started wondering what I did wrong.Did I forget to date or sign something? what more proof will I need?

I found one form not signed on my copies. Easy fix if that's all. I wonder if this means they were attempting to adjudicate it or just a pre-check before the long wait.

Yes, in the Phils., an NSO copy of marriage license, and birth cert. is required, we got caught up in the K-1 with the NSO, of birth cert. as at her interview they kept her original, and we had to go get another original of the birth cert., before the CFO!

I got the hard copy of the RFE today. It took about a week.

You were right as they want the NSO Marriage Certificate. I had researched this also and it was clear to me from reading in this forum that the local copy was fine at this stage and the NSO would be needed at the NVC. Apparently something has changed.

The bad part is these certificates can take a long time to get and we are suspended in the process until we get them. I did tell my wife to get the advance endorsement and she also knows someone in the city office so hopefully it won't be to much longer. We were married on Sept 20th and I had her apply about a week to ten days after.

The good news is maybe they are already trying to adjudicate which is months faster than I expected. I was expecting 5-6 months, not one. Maybe were on the Filipino Express, even thou she doesn't live in the affected area.

I did get my copies yesterday I only needed one but I order 2. I order online thru the ecensus website with rush delivery. My wife is also going to pick up a copy in Manila in case she needs one there.

My wife and I have been married almost 6 months so there was time for the NSO to have a copy of our marriage certificate.Hopefully NSO has copy of yours, if not hopefully you can expedite it somehow.

I see they send it here by mail unless you email them and pay extra for courier. We have all heard how bad the Philippine Postal Service is. I'm thinking of paying extra for the courier. How did you send it? How long did it take?

I Email them to send it thru special carrier they e-mail me back with instruction to send $89.00 thru western union After I sent the money it took about three days. they sent it thru UPS. you might still get a generated e-mail from the ecensus website saying it will take 6 to 8 weeks but if you do special delivery, just disregard that e-mail.you will get the certificate within three days.

ecensus charge $ 20.00 per copy .I am not sure but I think they charge if NSO has your certificate or not, but you can use the case number they give you to see if they have your certificate it will say positive. I will not send the money for rush delivery until you know for sure they have your certificate.

I think it would of cost me less if I had my wife pick me up a copy in Manila and sent it rush delivery from there

You are right Philippines mail service is bad I sent my wife a couple of cards that she never got

That was very helpful as I emailed them as you did but I hadn't received a response yet as its the weekend. Rush service is what I want also.

The closest NSO to my wife is a 1.5 hour drive. So I much rather pay this fee. They should have it as her local office did expedite it. She sent me a letter from them confirming this. Sounds like I can confirm this from them before I pay anyway from your experience.

The RFE letter they sent me also wanted CDLI requested. I'm not sure why as we made no changes. Did you request this also?

No I did not request CDLI.I did not have any changes either. My wife and I both use our last names on the marriage certificate. Then after we was married, she apply for and received Philippine passport in married name.

The NSO certificate that they sent me has everything they ask for. The NSO seal. the date and place of marriage and the registrar signature and date. If that is not good enough, then they are being really picky. I am sending it tomorrow to Nebraska thru Fed-ex. I could of sent it over the weekend but I thought it will be best just to wait till Monday morning

It helped me understand the details as it's the weekend when this happened.

I emailed my rush request to the NSO and I'm hoping to get a answer anytime on how to pay.

My wife also is in transit to her local city office as she made a expedited request on September 30th.

Hopefully we will get the NOA 2 soon after. I'm sure the NVC will be challenging also as I need three police certificates.
