Does anyone know if you can schedule your medical exam once you have the case number from NVC? Or do you have to wait to receive the actual letter from NVC before it is scheduled? Just trying to move the process along as quickly as possible!

I wouldn't advise it because you'd be doing things out of order and too early, which can mess up the system.

If you complete the medical before London has your file, your medical results may languish in a pile somewhere until someone thinks to look there and try to match up the results with case files received.

The proper order is that London receives your case file and sends you the "Packet 3" instruction letter, telling you to get the medical and to complete the DS-160. I suggest waiting for this letter. Then you know that London has your file and you can get started. And London also know that your case file is waiting for the medical, rather than the medical sitting in another part of the office waiting for a case file.

The other thing is that you need to have filed AOS within one year of your K-1 medical. If you do your medical too early and there is a delay in the remainder of your journey before you file AOS, you might then find yourself having to re-do the medical stateside - an unnecessary additional expense.

If you want to get started on something, look at the vaccinations required for AOS and get those done so that you can get signed off at the K-1 medical and don't have to do them stateside.

Hmmmmm.....I have talked to a couple people that scheduled their medical as soon as the CEAC showed London receiving file since they had their Case# and Invoice# from calling NVC....everything went smoothly...in fact one person went from NVC receiving their file to having an interview at London embassy within four weeks! Think I will take my chances and schedule as soon as I see the info from CEAC.....I have also heard from many that the form sometimes never arrives and that packets 3 and 4 arrived the same day.....royal mail is #######!

I have read some people having success doing this with the London Embassy by booking as soon as they have their case number for NVC but booking a medical which is about two weeks later, giving their file time to arrive in London. But I guess if you do that, it's not much different to waiting.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes!

You are describing it a little differently than in your first post which I read as

1) sill at NVC vs. 2) letter received

Waiting until CEAC STATUS says London has the file is more sensible. Make sure you have the police certificate and shots/shot record before the medical.
