Sheila Jackson-Lee was up in NYC a few years ago, on Labor Day, espousing amnesty for illegal aliens so they could join the local workers unions and then urged them to vote DEMOCRATIC, the party that was making it happen for them.

It was live on C-SPAN, I kept watching it, my eyes glued to my TV, couldn't change the channel - was a 3 hour bacchanalia of this tripe - her and about 40 others. I've watched her actions since then, and now I have property in her district. I'm seemingly doomed.

Didn't see it, but if true, quite lame. That's why I think if there ever is any kind of amnesty, they shouldn't have voting rights.

Yep, and that played out big time last Tuesday. Obama delaying his planned edict on immigration for political purposes didn't fool anyone.

Why be so stubborn about it? Why go against the masses? Because it's good for the Party? He's going to pull rank and do it anyway. If blowing the election doesn't get him to rethink things, nothing will. He's done a lot of damage to his party.

Why be so stubborn about it? Why go against the masses? Because it's good for the Party? He's going to pull rank and do it anyway. If blowing the election doesn't get him to rethink things, nothing will. He's done a lot of damage to his party.

IDK. It seems he was thinking since he can't run for re-election, then screw it he'll do what he wants. He obviously didn't think about the other members of his party. This last election hasn't seemed to change his mind either after watching the press conference the day after the election. The arrogance is amazing.

It's looking more like ignorance or stupidity. He's on a mission with this amnesty bit. I think most people would prefer that it was done properly. I know a lot of illegals who would be most thankful to be able to work legally, get a DL, pay taxes etc. Voting isn't even on the list.

The problem with even offering legal work status or a D/L is that it encourages even more illegal immigration. I'm fine with some sort of benefits (not citizenship ever) for those already here up to a point. They need to make it so painful for both the people that come here illegally and those that hire them, that they'll stop coming. If they could pull that off then they should increase the visa allotment for countries like Mexico etc. I'm personally all for people coming here for a better life, but they need to do it in a legal manner like everyone else. Obama has basically encouraged illegal immigration with programs like DACA and his latest plan to offer de-facto amnesty.

No doubt, you have to stop the leaks or it won't work. We have living proof of that since the last amnesty back in 86 or whenever it was. The day is coming when people won't be coming here for a better life. There will be better places to chose. Unchecked immigration isn't a good thing, IMO. We don't have the infrastructure to support what we have now. We spend a fortune abroad and can't take care of ourselves anymore. How can we be there to fight injustice in the world if we are falling part ourselves? The last 14 years have been particularly bad for the US.
