Happy (ugh) Monday

Another morbid day on my floor at the hospital...

My problem patient is still in the ICU holding on, but it's looking worse and worse; his labs were getting better for a while and now they look terrible.

Another patient we admitted yesterday afternoon died this morning in the elevator on his way to the ultrasound lab (probably better, he had had a huge stroke, but still sad)

Then I found out that my patient I discharged last Thursday died on Saturday at his nursing home

I really need to break this chain of death that has attached itself to me.

I'm going to lose myself in 24 and a cup of tea, then go to bed. Have to get ready for another day of bringing out the dead

It really takes a special kind of person to dedicate themselves to a job like yours. I know that I don't have it in me but I am thankful for all those who do.

Sharon, sorry to hear abt your rough day- one thing is certain: where there is death, there will also be new life- it's a-coming... chin up!

I had 2 kickin' classes tonite My girls on finger cymbals were sooo good! I "made" them do improv tonite and they were scared but they got thru it like pros! It made me so proud.

I got a card in the mail saying that the post office tried to deliver my marriage certificate so insha Allah I can file the I-130 tomorrow.

YAY...all in all I guess 30 days turnaround is pretty fast. Is everything ready to go in the mail?

I have to be into work by 9 but my post office doesn't open till 8:30 so looks like I'll be late. I'll pick up the marriage certificate and then take all the copies at work and assemble it all and shoot off to the post office at lunch to get that sucker off and on it's way!!!! :dance:

I'm trying to decide if I wanna take the kids on a ski vacation for Feb vacation or to NYC to see a few plays and some shopping. tough decision. They've done the NYC thing before, though it was in summer and we didnt' see a broadway show, only an off broadway show called Altar Boyz, which was hysterical btw. They've never been skiing and I think they'd get a kick out of it though it could backfire on me if my oldest chickens out, which she sometimes does.

Doodle - I vote for NYC! If you want to see a Broadway show, go to the TKTS booth the morning (in Times Square) - they sell 1/2 priced tickets for the same day shows. As long as you are a little flexible its really a great deal.
