hi to all, My fiance is in the Philippines and she received her second notice from the ebassy stating her interview date  Now my problem is in the requirement it states that if she had lived in another country for more than 6 months, she needs to provide a police clearance from that country. My fiance lived in Japan for 1 yr, but has no way of getting back there now. We do not know how to get this clearance from the Philippines.

Has anyone here have had this same situation? I am desperate her interview is in March 15 and i dont want her to be delayed. PLS advice

OMG it seems i am in deep trouble. If the processing time is 2 to 3 months i dont have enough time. has anyone here had any experience on this? Do they really ask for that document? If we dont have it how long can they delay my girls visa. She is 4 months pregnant right now. It creates a mess of problems for us.

US Embassy will probably delay visa issuance until police certificate arrives from Japan. Police clearance takes 2~3 months and cannot be expedited according to Japanese Embassy.

These are the requirements in applying for police clearance with the Japanese Embassy in Manila:

1) Valid passport

2) Embassy checklist (with "Other Country Police Certificate" checked)

Japanese Embassy tel. 834-7514

It seems it differs from embassy to embassy this requirement. Mine said to get police clearance from all places where the applicant spent 12 months or more. I spent 11 months in USA and only submitted the police clearance from my home country. I was good to go and got my visa.

You might want to double check with the embassy - it might turn out she does not need the police certificate from Japan.

Good luck to both of you.

The USA is an exception, the embassy or consulate does a routine FBI check of all beneficiaries the FBI check is your Police check from the USA.

Embassy in London lists unavailable certificates best (USA is part of the list) http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/pbcerts.html

If I were you, I'd go ahead and do the interview as scheduled, and in the mean time order the police certificate. The worst that can happen, (i think), is that she will get a 221g and will not be issued the visa immediatly, but her application will be pended until you get it. There is also the chance that the consular official will not notice and it will 'slip through the cracks'.

1) This is Manila.. things do not slip through the cracks...

2) There's a saying.. a lack of prior planning on your part does not make an emergency on my part. The counulate in Manila will not issue the visa until the receive the police certificate from Japan. Bite the bullet and apply for it now... I would go to the interview... but be prepared they they will not issue the visa until they get the police certificate...

It seems my troubles are just starting. My fiance went to the japanese embassy and the embassy refused to give her a police certificate. They wanted a letter from the US embassy stating that they are requesting it. This is not included in her packet, so she went to the US embassy they told her that they will send her another packet with this letter.I have never heard of such a thing. I am thinking that when she goes to the interview, they will ask for the police clearance and when she says the jap embassy needs a letter from them, it will take another long waiting process for them to produce this letter. I find it really annoying that they give us a month to prepare all these documents when they surely know that a police clearance from another country will take more than a month to get back to the recipient.

Is there anyone i can hire for this matter to get that clearance before the interview? and what is a 221G?

This happened to my fiance. He is a citizen of canada but he was born and raised in Nigeria. He was not able to get his police report from Nigeria before the interview. The canadian consulate issued us a 221g(request for missing information). He had to mail the Nigerian police report to get the visa. It took one month after our interview to receive the visa due to not receiving the police report immediately. Apply for the report now and be prepared to wait for the visa to arrive at a later date.

This is not included in her packet, so she went to the US embassy they told her that they will send her another packet with this letter.

According to the Japanese Embassy here, they would accept the US Embassy checklist (with a check in the box where it states Other Country Police Certificate) in lieu of the letter request. If your fiancee has received the "Pre-Interview Notice", she can show that to the Japanese Embassy.

Have your fiancee call the Japanese Embassy at 834-7514 to double-check the above info.

That is what she showed to the Japanese embassy when she went. They refused it and wanted an official letter from the Us embassy. I am just worried because this delay if it is 2 to 3 months, will be in time for her due date. She is due in July. If she gives birth there, i dont even know where to begin to file paperwork for my child, and I dont know how long that will take.

In India the police required to see the paper that the embassy listed the police certificate as a required document. SO once we showed them that they started the ball rolling.

you should beable to contact the embassy in japan or the poice in japan to get the police certificate. using fax im sure you can send them something to get things going.

i think that you shouldnt worry too much

go to the interview as scheduled like the others have reccomended here

the worst that could happen is you get the 221g

that just puts things on hold until you get the papers your missing

from there you can get the japanese police certificate, send it in to the embassy and pick things up from there. most likely you wont even have to go in for another interivew, just simply mail those papers with your passport to the embassy.

dont fret!

i know its hard not to do

just go through the process and get things as you can.

i dont think it would delay months, i think a month at the most.

when is the interview? yeah ur right. They just gave one month to get all the requirements..but i got mine early coz i was reading the requirements here b4 they sent the packet. How about asking help in an immigrant center. Coz my visa counselor did it all. No need to go to japanese embassy i think if u have a visa counselor to do that. Coz they will just mail it after one month u will recieve it. Had a friend who mailed a letter to Taiwan Police office and put the money in the mail requesting a police clearance and after 12 days she recieved it. God Bless!
