Hello All

I need help filling out I-864W for my child who is only 3 years old.

#1 For part 1, question 2, do I put his address where he resides currently? (outside of the u.s) or my residence (in the U.S)

and

#2 For part 3, do I Put my son's name, and then my signature on the bottom? Or my name and my signature?

I have used the search function and found a couple threads with no clear answer, 2 other threads with conflicting answers, and 1 thread where someone got a checklist, but does not state a solution. The wiki also does not mention it. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/I-864W . The instructions also don't state how to fill it out.

I want to avoid a checklist. I called NVC last night, and the person I spoke couldn't advise me. Maybe someone here has filled one out before? Thank you :)

p.s for reference, here is a link to the said i-864w http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864w.pdf

The form is for your son, therefore all of the info is about him. You would put his name, his address, etc. You sign his name and you write "father" next to it in parentheses.

For example, Name of Son Signed By You (father)

This does not constitute legal advice.

That's how parent-minor child docs are signed. If it were the mother, the word "mother" would be in parentheses. Usually if the child is old enough to sign his/her name, he/she can do it themselves.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Hello Westslidestory, I have the same question like you do concerning the Part-1 questions. Please let me know what you mean by problem solved, because I have not seen the answer for that particular question answer. Help me understand it more if I miss read something, somewhere. But that portion of questions in part -1 specially Question #2 (address). I am still needing help on.

Now concerning the signature in part-3 ( I believe since your child is only 2yrs. old and the part that say who should sign it, it is very clearly that YOU the Parent should sign it with your name since he is under 14yrs old.) Please let me know what you think.

Hello,

OK, it is pretty clear whose name and signature and all has to be filled out...

... what is still not clear for me is in Part 3 Items 1a, 1b and 2 (Requestors statement of form i864w 07/02/15 Page 2 of 5) and therefore Part 4 (Interpreter’s info ... page 3 of 5). https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-864w.pdf

Obviously a baby and/or toddler cannot read and understand as mentioned, so my question is, do we leave those blank or just N/A all, or fill them as if “we” understand “for” the child?
