what if someone's fiance is of a meeker disposition and cannot handle it and then is rejected? Will that be fair too?

Well, as an American, I know that the danger to the US from terrorists and the presence of people in the world to commit fraud in order to move here is very real. So to me, married to a South African, I believe that it's only "fair" for natural-born US citizens to live here. Everyone else is being granted a gift. I am quite sure that that comes off as very arrogant, and it's not meant to be, but no one is entitled to live here but citizens. And only natural-born citizens are entitled. That's fair to me. I guess had she been rejected, they'd have gone with Plan B, which was for him to go there, get married, and try it again as a spousal visa. They knew their fiance visa was going to be difficult to get, which is why they front-loaded and went over the possible questions. Had she been of a meeker disposition, they still might have approved the visa. We can't know that they wouldn't have. To be honest, I don't think that my husband would have handled that nearly as well as his fiance did, but we were lucky that he didn't come from a high-fraud country.

I doubt very much you will appreciate my answer. Sorry. :(

Wooow, that's a great post and I can say your fiancée was so strong to face all that! Definitely not easy being on her shoes!

Congrats for the approval and strength! We all know how hard the waiting is (I am close to 5 months in TSC and nothing as of now)!

God bless you both! :)

But yes, she is an absolute rock, such an amazing woman. I'm so blessed that God brought us together. Thanks so much for your best wishes.

I'm kinda nervous now though. My fiance will have to interview in Karachi. We are both Muslim though so do you think that would make a difference? Or are most interviews like this? I went to visit him and his family in Pakistan. I just hope he doesn't have an interview like this :/

God bless you both for being so strong and best wishes for you both in the future

I think that since you're both Muslim you should be fine. My fiancee is a Christian which you know is a tiny minority in Pakistan, so the American COs probably don't see a lot of it and they didn't really know how to understand our relationship within the parameters of an Islamic culture. Because we've done things in a way that go against the predominant culture of Pakistan - and they just don't see much of that so they were very skeptical about our case. But also willing to have an open mind, for which we're both thankful!

You may have other problems, I don't know - but surely you won't have these problems.

Haha! Well you just can't be too careful these days! I'm actually getting very paranoid these days if anyone mistakenly mis-classifies our relationship!! It's such an easy mistake to make - I mean they say "what does your husband do?" and you just answer the question without bothering to correct them. Most people wouldn't even hear it or think about it. But it can get you denied. Amazing.

When you put God first, the rest will follow.

Congratulations!

I adore how all COs work on each case.

Amen LmmL! That's right.

Thanks for your kind words on my review! I hope it will help a few people.

But, I disagree that they should be fired. They actually did a very good job. We're paying them to keep frauds and terrorists out of this country. If they had approved her without this kind of questioning - it would mean they'll approve anybody - no matter how unusual their cases are. The fact that they did what they did shows they take a lot of pride in their work - which is to keep America safe. And I think we should all be very grateful for that. I feel much better knowing that they're really on the lookout for frauds from Pakistan.

And I feel much better knowing that when an unusual case like this comes along they're actually willing to keep an open mind about it and even change their minds during the interview. They could have easily just said DENIED and saved themselves a lot of trouble. But they really put a lot of time and effort into it and they kept an open mind about it - which should make all of us with honest petitions feel great!

Wow quite a story! Congrats to both of you and more power to your future wife! She's a trooper, I think I'd still be sitting in that chair crying lol!

But most of all I love and respect the positive attitude, it s refreshing to read. And as you said so well they were doing their job, and in this case they did it well. You should be very proud of your fiancée!

Best of luck and lots of happiness in the future.

There is a lot of finger pointing in this thread by posters at the CO's for trying to force Muslim beliefs and Muslim values on your relationship by going so in-depth with the questioning and their attitudes. How it reads to me is that your Visa application reeks of human trafficking and they were doing everything in their power to prove that was or was not the case. Thankfully you were able to prove that not to be the case with good documentation and being prepared.

Thanks for sharing, she did AWESOME !!!!!!

What a hell to go through. Horrible experience.

Sometimes an overblown ego makes them think they are playing cops on CSI or something. If you don't fit the cultural "box" all hell breaks lose.

Time to update the field manual.

Congratulations to both of you and your new life together.
