Traveling with Advance Parole and no Passport

My wife is a Japanese citizen who has an ID Card that serves as Employment Authorization and I-512 Advanced Parole. She needs to fly to Japan soon. I have already found out that all she needs to travel is this ID (that expires in September 2015), right? She does not have a US Passport, so when entering the airport, does she need to show a passport at all, or will the card and plane ticket be enough? I should buy the ticket with her new name (she has my last name now), instead of buying the ticket with her maiden name and just having her fly using her Japanese passport, right? Won't it look weird if she flies out with a ticket showing her maiden name and flies back into the USA with a ticket showing her married name? Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks.

P.S.- I am a US Citizen and my wife and I got married in April of 2014 after she came in on a K1 Visa

You said she had a passport and she does not. She will need her Passport.

She will need a passport to board the plane - and her flight ticket must be in the name of that (Japanese) passport.

If you want tickets in different name because she intends to have a new passport done in her new name while in Japan, I would contact the airline to see if they offer return tickets under a different name.

I would assume that she has a passport, otherwise what did she use to enter the US? She would use that along with the EAD/AP combo card to travel. It's essentially the same as traveling with a GC, you need both.

I would also take a copy of the marriage certificate in case anyone questions the name change.

Sorry for any confusion. I meant to say she does not have a US Passport, but she does have a Japanese passport with her maiden name.

One poster says that I should buy the flight ticket with her maiden name, but I'm thinking to buy out with the name on the Advance Parole Card makes more sense, right? I'm confused and just don't want her to be accused of lying.

I can assure you that the ticket has to match the name on the passport; call your airline if you would like a confirmation of that. Valid ID for international travel =passport; passport name and ticket name do have to match. Please contact your airline if you still have doubts about which name to use to book her ticket.

The tickets should be booked in her maiden name. The AP is intended to help a pending AOS applicant re-enter the US - it's more like a visa than a passport:

Put the ticket in her maiden name, have her bring a certified copy of her marriage license, and a photocopy of the NoA1 for the AOS as well as a copy of her original I-94 and her EAD/AP card.
