Hello,

We are going through NVC and have submitted AOS package. We are waiting for IV bill to be invoiced.

We need to submit original or certified copies of marriage certificate. Our marriage was registered in Hyderabad, India and my husband has the original. We do not want to submit the original in case it is lost during shipping. We do not get multiple copies. We got copies of the record in the marriage register certified by the registrar, but not sure whether it will be acceptable by NVC. We are trying to get certified copies of certificate, that is, certified by registrar on photocopy of original marriage certificate. I wanted to know what others have done in this case, especially people from India.

Thanks

Madhuri

Hi I don’t know Hyderabad (Andra/Telugana) state keeps the record. Our state started computer recordkeeping from 2011. There are no originals now all are computer generated…” all the certificates say this is to certify that the following was taken from register of marriage from this urban affairs office”. You are able to obtain certified copy the certificate from the office you registered. Just bring the one photocopy of the original to the office and ask them for another copy of the certificate. You might have to pay them to get it on the same day. Just make sure to get signature and stamp.

My spouse just showed her photocopy and they printed another certificate (black and white.. depends on your office.. some office have color printer) and the officer stamped and signed ..

Hi

Thanks for the reply. In Hyderabad it is not computerized and they are not giving another copy. What they are giving is certified copies of record in the register and we are getting the photocopies of certificate attested by registrar. But we are not sure whether this will be accepted by NVC
