Hi,

This is for my son, who is sponsoring his wife for adjustment of status.

They applied in July 2014 for AOS and we have a religious ceremony in December in India for which both have to travel.

My daughter-in-law has applied for expedited AP and is still waiting for a decision and she has booked tickets for NOV 10th!!

Meanwhile, even though it looks like she may have to postpone the Nov trip, they have got an email of Testing and Interview status.

They have to come for the ceremony to India as postponing that is not an option right now.

We do not know how to proceed now.

Any idea as to when the interview could be scheduled and in the meanwhile, hoping her advance parole is approved and she can at least travel for the religious ceremony.

Please any help and advice is appreciated .

I hope she's OK - as even if AP is granted,

and she leaves the country,

there's a huge chance the I-485 will be deemed as abandoned,

particularly based on the visa type she held to get into the USA.

Hi,

I have the same question, did she apply for AP when she submitted the AOS or afterwards? Does she have a combo EAD/AP card? Was the expedite request approved? She mustn't leave until the AP document is in her hands or risk having to start all over with a spouse visa. This is why I and others on here always suggest to apply for the AP even if it doesn't seem necessary.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Thanks a lot for all these responses!!

Yes, she did apply for AP and EAD along with the AOS. She definitely is not leaving without the AP; I know it is like abandoning the whole case!!!

Hoping that the expedite happens soon. Any idea when the interview could be scheduled as the religious ceremony is in mid December ?

We are hoping the interview is scheduled sometime in January so that after she travels for her religious ceremony with the AP in hand, she can return as soon as the ceremony is over.

if not a K-1 visa holder, I would worry that the I-485 was deemed abandoned.

Which visa got her into the country? somehow I read 'tourist visa'.. somehow, someway...
