Just wondering if anyone has taken any online education courses? I am thinking I might want to do this, since we can't afford for me to be going to school full time. I am hoping to work and then do the online courses in my free time. Has anyone done this? How did it work? Was it worth it? "Where" did you attend?

I know a couple of ladies who got their Early Childhood Education degrees online. This was an Associate's degree, and is only valid at private facilities.

I go to WIU. its expensive as HELL. like 1600.00 tuition. thats coz its a private university.

if you go to local college it is a lot cheaper. online classes are HARD AS HELL. because, you still have the same requirements such as turning your papers and projects ontime. you still have to raise your hand in class, you still have to do group assignments. only diffrence is your not driving to a class. for me since I work for the airlines it has offered me some flexiblity but, not by much..

I'm taking 3 online classes at the college I attend this semester. I have one on campus- a foreign language class. I find having my other ones online offer me a lot more flexibility because my foreign language class takes so much time from me. I spend 5 hours a week in lectures for it, another hour in practical lab, and about 3 hours commuting. It doesn't sound like a lot, but if I took my other classes on campus I'd have to go in 4 times a week (sometimes 5) instead of 2, sometimes 3. I wouldn't have much time left to study. I'm not finding it difficult, but in high school, I took a fair few independent study courses so I am used to working by myself, in fact, I find it easier. Usually, we'll have an entire week to complete our assignments in the online classes, unlike my campus classes where I'd have 4 days at the most. Also, my professors online seem more organised and are better at laying down the assignments so you know what's coming a couple weeks from now and I can work ahead. For example, my math class only started on the 19th of this month and I've already completed week 1-4 of assignments. I also have a laptop, so I can login to my classes and do my work from anywhere I can access the internet. Makes it much easier that way.

I goto class for some and take some by correspondance!! For my correspondance classes, I just have to goto the college to write the exams. Nice to be able to go at ones pace, but can be hard to stay on track at times, as its easy to put off studying!! lol I goto http://www.nvcc.edu/ and their corrsspondance courses are called ELI. Even though its Northen Virginia, one some of my classes have had students from all over the USA. One wants to ensure the online courses you take are transferable toother colleges/universities. I hope to be starting the RN program this fall, which off course is all completed in class, but one could take some of the none core classes online such as psychloogy, medical terminology, etc. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
