And would they care?

Why is it important? Would your respect gay people more or less if we had a definitive answer to that question?

Sometimes it is hard to believe we are in the 21st century...

What choice did it involve for you to be hetero and when, specifically, did you make that choice?

You can only answer it from your own experience. If you're straight are you aware of a time when you weren't. Did you make a conscious reasoned choice to be straight?

If you did then you are probably bisexual.

If you didn't, then it wasn't a choice at all.

Sexuality is a spectrum at the end of the day.

I believe we can only speak for our own sexuality. I take people's testimonials at face value.

Many tell us it is not a choice. I believe them.

Some tell us they chose to be x. I believe them.

What is your personal experience? Did you choose to be gay? (or straight, or bi?)

I'll ask again, when did you make the choice to be hetero? Come on, be honest to yourself.

I don't salivate when I see people of the same gender so...

But I do know certain people in the family and school could have influenced me otherwise.

That's a non-response to the question at hand. I'll be honest here saying that I have no recollection whatsoever of ever making the choice to be heterosexual. It's just what I am. Not because I chose to be but because I am. Based on that personal experience of mine not making any choice on my sexual orientation, I can't help but feel that those of different sexual orientation did not make any such choice either. It would be unreasonable to think otherwise.

In that case, you're bisexual, by choice, genetics or both. It really doesn't matter, does it?

I can promise you there was nobody that could have influenced me to change my sexual orientation, as much as I can promise you there was never a turning point, or a fork on the road at which I made a choice to veer in one direction over the other.

Nope but the environment is a powerful thing. This is one of the reasons people love to throw the label bisexual around when they know they are engaging in sexual acts with males or females because it's "hot".

As a heterosexual person, I would not consider it "hot" to engage in sex with both males and females. For someone to consider it hot, one has to be wired differently. That's what being bisexual is. I don't see how that supports the "choice" argument in any way. Out of curiosity: Do you believe in "curing" gay people?

That is precisely what bisexual means. A person who enjoys sex with males and females alike.

And you're saying that the influences in your life didn't continue to push you in the heterosexual direction?

In that case, you're bisexual, by choice, genetics or both. It really doesn't matter, does it?

So you're telling me I am sexually attracted to both genders?

It's you who told me you could have been persuaded to modify your sexual orientation. That is what being bisexual is.

As far as my experience, nobody pushed me in one direction or another. My younger brother is gay, and has always been. According to him it was never a question in his mind nor did it ever seem out of the ordinary. At home, our parents never questioned or judged his sexuality, or that of any other sibling. It was really never a big issue at home. I don;t believe for a second my parents could have persuaded me to be gay any more than they could have persuaded him not to.

And you're saying that the influences in your life didn't continue to push you in the heterosexual direction?

So you're telling me I am sexually attracted to both genders?

I don't know. What I do know is that I did not choose to be heterosexual.

Okay. I never said every homosexual person isn't following their nature but I believe how people are nurtured can possibly override what is genetic...at least for a while or until the influences change.
