B1/2 Visa granted - how to ensure no problems at POE

Hello,

I have an EU passport but from a country not eligible for VWP.

I had no problems being approved for a 10 year b1/b2 visa at the US embassy, they did not even want to see any documents supporting my claims about living in the UK. I have lived here for 25 years since age of 4 with a very secure job.

I stated my visit to the USA (3 weeks starting a couple of days before New Years) is for tourist purposes and to visit a friend.

Now this is 100% true, but this friend is my girlfriend, who I actually met while travelling around Europe a few months ago, she was doing the same. I am going to be staying with her for the whole duration of the trip and listed her as my contact and her address.

When I reach the point of entry, would I be advised to not mention the fact she is my girlfriend but just a friend? Would it also be advisable to have plans for touristy things I may do and other locations I may visit? I have no intention on overstaying, the plan is for her to make the move here in the UK in the future, but I get a lot of annual leave so its easier for me to visit her. I would most likely visit again in about 6 months time. I have read how strict the CBP officers can be so dont want to give them any reason to deny entry.

Thank you.

If you are looking for advice on whether or not you should lie or conceal info... the answer is no, you shouldn't.

If you dont want to give any reasons to get in trouble, be honest about the relationship you have and who you are visiting.

Misrepresentation is serious and will most likely give you problems if you ever wish to apply for residency in the future.

My advice is to be honest. Do not volunteer any information but when asked, tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Best,

UnaMexicana

Thank you for your reply Mexicana.

The thing that I didnt mention in the OP is that when I applied for the visa a few weeks ago we were just friends. We became 'official' only last weekend when we met in Mexico actually!

I cant help but feel changing from friend to girlfriend between visa issue and POE will for some reason look suspicious to the border officer...
