Just got off the phone with NVC. They got my case finally on the 18th, which I knew. It took 22 days to get from Nebraska to New Hampshire. I find this INTENSELY suspect and believe that it means that it sat in a loading dock somewhere until someone could be arsed to open the crate and scan things in.

Just now they have informed me it currently takes 42 days to be assigned a case number. This is freaking ridiculous. 64 days after NOA2 is what they're telling me to expect before we can ACTUALLY BEGIN THE FREAKING PROCESS AT NVC.

I'm so frustrated with this. And now rumour has it that there's only one consulate in Canada doing K-1 interviews--the same one that does all CR-1/IR-1 interviews. This is only going to make consulate stage take longer and it already is taking between 35 and 45 days to get an interview. So not only will I have the sixty days' wait, because I have zero hope the slightly faster processing time will hold until I get a case number, I'll have 64 days to get a case number and 45 + days for an interview. That's nearly four months just right there and it doesn't count the time to process payments or anything.

This is so discouraging. I'm so sick of waiting. I was hoping to get home by my birthday in February but it looks like I'll be lucky if I get home by our first anniversary.

Still waiting on the IV fee to open up. It's been 30 days and nothing.

The rep today said she's sending a request to have it sent because the DS261 was already reviewed weeks ago, but the 'system' has it held up for some reason.

Just one of them days, when you wanna put your head in to a pillow and scream. hahahaha.

It never ceases to amaze me how incompetent these people are. Sometimes I think they do it on purpose because they can't be that stupid, then I think the Government must hire them because they're stupid. The jury is still out on this one.

I'm very sorry this has happened to you and I will be praying they fix it very soon and the rest of your journey will be a smooth one.

Woohoo! They are officially in October dates based on what I saw on the other thread!!! Soloenta, we will get our CCs soon! You are 10/22 and I am 10/23....I pray no checklists and fast CCs!!

I think the last CC was for October 3rd.

Great to see that! I'm Oct 21, so we'll all be happy together! Wooohoooo!!

Great group to be with and grateful our friends are with us to celebrate when we get CC, God willing soon.

Many have said they would be with us until we got our CC and out of immigration but I know life gets in the way. I want to thank those that made the extra effort

to come and see how we are all doing. I know it's not easy once your out of here but it warms my heart and soul to know there are people that care so much despite the constraints of life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you guys!

Late October dates can't get here fast enough! ha-ha....hopefully my CC predicted range is correct and I get a CC before the 60 days! TheBigO predicted December 3-15 so hopefully it's in the earlier dates like the 10th or 11th.

Well i just got off the phone and NOTHING, im so desperate, the guy i talked to told me, we received your papers on oct 3 and i was like nooo oct 2, i received an email stating that, and he was like its just one day!!! no when u have been away from your spouse forever, i havent been in our home since we got married, i mean come on with me a freaking case complete now!! what a douche

Yes I have an expedite only puts you in the front of the line nothing else. The rest is up to the evil CO who thinks himself/herself to be God!

A Facebook Oct 7th got CC last week. They had sent both packages together in August and received a checklist Oct 2nd, checklist scan date Oct 7.

I'm sorry if this was already posted. I've had 100 law essays to grade this past week -- 13 more to go.

No way, information is always good and Oct 7th wooooooooooo hooooooooooo great news ty so very much! Yikes but at least it's only 13 to go and not just one done hahahahaaa. Happy to see you seems like I haven't seen you in a long time.

I'm so very sorry the wait is so long but it does seem they are speeding up and they always give the worse case scenario. I'll be praying it speeds up even more!

Try to stay strong and can you visit? I see a lot of Canadian's and US citizens going back and forth, you can at least be here for Christmas?

You'll be ok, just try to relax. Please look at the big picture, your timeline shows you have had a pretty good run. Took us 16 months to get through USCIS and NVC, so you got a huge break with the auto-expedite that was not available to us when we applied last year (both living overseas in Australia) and our case was as straightforward as you can get (been married 11 years, 3 kids, no prior marriages, no criminal history, enough assets to not need co-sponsor, etc).

I think you will get your CC this week, just please stay positive and remember it could be a lot worse.

Unfortunately, my laptop is actively dying. At best it has a few more days. We need to buy me a new laptop before the forms are ready on NVC. It was very unlikely we would be able to afford me going down for Christmas to start--she has to move in January because the crime rate at her apartment complex has skyrocketed and so we are househunting right now--and now it is entirely out of the question. Plane tickets are just too expensive at Christmas time and we're buying a new laptop on Friday. I feel sad that she's having to do all the work of picking our new home on her own while having a full time job and keeping up with her studies. I'm honestly guessing it will be April or possibly even May by the time I get down there at this point, though I am trying to stay positive.

I do NOT understand why this takes so long. The system is so incredibly inefficient. I just want to walk in there and fix it. For example, in this day and age, why are the files not all digitized at USCIS when they are being scanned for completion? There are more service centres at USCIS level. It would make sense to digitize the file and when they scan the barcode at NVC, this downloads the digitized file at NVC. Automate case number generation (computers CAN DO THIS!). The digitized file is now scanned and ready and the case number is generated in the file at arrival at NVC. The hardcopy file is there if there are any questions and for reference should it be needed. This would shave weeks off of the time at NVC and there is absolutely no reason why it should extend the time at USCIS as all the data is clearly in a computer at USCIS or we wouldn't get 'your X has been updated' messages.

Instead, NVC informed me today that they have to scan in the actual sheets of the file manually at NVC.

Before anyone says 'but what about security! They have to keep it on a file separated from the internet or all of our data is insecure!' I can say right now that our data at USCIS is on a server connected to the internet or else we would not be able to get email case updates. Even if this WERE the case, they could easily put the information on harddrives or thumbsticks and send these to NVC. NVC receives a crate of files, plugs in the harddrive or thumbstick and boom, the data is on their servers.

The fact that this is not the case is ridiculous.

When it comes to the generation of case numbers or opening of forms/payments online, it makes no sense that this is done manually. It should be done automatically by computers. Now that the AOS and IV packages are to be sent at the same time, there is absolutely zero reason why the two fees should not automatically be opened as soon as either a) case number is generated or b) the DS-261 is completed, whichever they prefer.

This would mean that the only manual tasks to do at NVC would be receiving and verifying the AOS and IV packages and verifying the information in the DS-260. Increasing the efficiency by digitizing so much of the tasks would free up agents to actually work on the things that require humans.

But no, they're probably operating Windows 98 computers and we're paying for the privilege of having our cases sit untouched in boxes for weeks or even months at a time.

I know what you mean and I agree, it's good to have perspective. But my feelings are as valid as anyone else's feelings. We also didn't ask for that expedite.

EDIT: I didn't mean to sound rude, it's just that I spent like the first month after getting NOA2 apologising for being expedited and making sure I was extremely mindful of my lucky circumstances and others' feelings.
