For Affidavit of Support Form, if we use 1040 form [and NOT 1040 EZ form], do we use line number 22 [Total income] or Line Number 37 [Adjusted Gross Income] ?

Form 1040EZ: use Adjusted Gross Income

Form 1040A : use line 15, Total Income

Form 1040: use line 22, Total Income

On 1040 it is the line 15 which is Total Income. I did fill out my AOS and used 1040. I had this part wright

This is not correct. See above. Line 15 is for Form 1040A

Saylin, you are very helpful, but your words can be mean at times. People are different....maybe they have issues reading or simply do not understand. This may seem like a walk in the park to you because of the time you have spent here, but others, like myself, are struggling to understand the process. It is hell to me I tell ya! I am not perfect...just trying to understand...like others.

I have learned...if you don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything at all.

Again, thanks for your support

Use common sense? Was that even necessary?

Mia

The suggestion to read the first post and wiki is actually very practical and a lot of people simply DON'T want to take the effort of reading through it. A reminder once in a while is quite appropriate and will be extremely useful if one takes it up.

The comment about common sense is necessary because in some cases that is exactly what is needed and things can go awry if common sense is not used.

Yes .. but it takes a month and a half to get an answer!

They told me it takes 60 days for them to review emails. Calling them is the best way. I use the Google dialer from within Gmail to give them.

Thanks, but it's the same for me, keeps saying busy and drops the call right away. I have tried calling from different numbers, different phones, here and in States, same result.

If not via phone, what is the most "responsive" email option do I get - asknvc@state.gov?

Its ALWAYS busy and you have to keep calling every 1 minute to get a connection. Eventually you will get a connection...I have found it easier to get into the hold by calling when its close to their closing time.

I wanted to address this because no one else has. I think this is unfair. Saylin might have been a little "pointed" in her post but it was rock solid advice and can you imagine how stressful it can be and frustrating for her? She has to answer the same questions over and over and over and yes, possibly some people have comprehension issues but they would be the minority and the information is still spelled out in the same way that Saylin would spell it out in this thread. I'm not trying to start a fight, just trying to give a perspective because I moderate another (totally unrelated) site and sometimes it does drive you COMPLETELY insane. And not to mention that every second Saylin puts into this site she does it for free. So when she tells people to check the Wiki it's because the answers to their questions are there not because she "hasn't got anything nice to say". Cut Saylin some slack IMO!

Still no CC for me, well no n/a anyway, I think I will suck it up and call in the morning (aus time). Sigh..

I am the beneficiary. My husband is the petitioning USC.

Not to mention the fact that (as I understand from her timeline) Saylin is not even going through the NVC process any more - she's done! Outta there! Yet she's still around here, sharing the wisdom she's gained from her own process and from observing many others, maintaining the wiki to help ease us through this process to the extent that it can be eased, and maintaining a spreadsheet to help give us the best possible estimate of when we're likely to reach various stages in the process.

I know I'm unlikely to still be posting here after I've got my visa - how many of you will still be here a year after you've received your visa?? So when Saylin suggests that we actually refer to the resources she's put so much time into, I think she's definitely earned that right.

Exactly. I won't be! Until I need to adjust status anyway. That's the truth of it.

Also it's worth remembering that Saylin is a person who has feelings too. One day if she gets another post like that, she'll just be like *flips table* "I'M OUT" and then we will have no Saylin at all and that is a dark, dark world to live in okay?

Once again: she does all this for free.

ive seem soo many different scan lates, but they are all september 20-29.

It seems like they just got stuck there and havent moved. Today was pretty slow in terms of CC news.

Hopefully tomorrow we get more movement.

USCIS

January 8th 2014 - NOA1

July 10th 2014 - NOA2

NVC

July 17th 2014 - Case shipped to NVC

July 30th 2014 - Case received by NVC

August 13th 2014 - Case number and IIN received by email

August 13th 2014 - DS-261 Form Completed

August 14th 2014 - AOS Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 17th 2014 - IV Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 19th 2014 - DS260 Completed

October 6th 2014 - AOS and IV Packages Received

November 28th 2014 - AOS and IV Checklist (4 items in total. 3 for documents they lost. Called on December 9 and a rep said no checklist for IV....go figure)

December 8th 2014 - Checklist scan date.

December 30th 2014 - Case Compl........NOT. So after not having an interview date yet, I called again on Jan 30th and apparently its in final review with a supervisor.

hang in there doc. the change from paid to n/a on aos fee happened on a sunday for me. so i called the following day monday and i was told we got CC on saturday (day before i saw the n/a on aos fee). so wat im saying is their

system takes at least a day to update. so checking once day will suffice.

to saylin: i am very grateful to u coz ur wiki helps me a lot although @ first i didnt read it completely which cause us to get a checklist. so please let us praise and respect her for all of her hardwork.
