congrats! and Yes you are in the right forum.. :) is taking a bit for packages to get to nvc for what I been reading so all you need to do is wait at this point to you get your case and IIN # from nvc.. I also recommend reading all about your aos and iv and the common mistakes made in the aos form to avoid any type of delay with a checklist from nvc... Good luck!

Hey folks, some lovely news this morning!! :dancing::dancing:

As of yesterday, November 12th, NVC will no longer collect ORIGINAL CIVIL DOCUMENTS for the IV package. That is correct, you read that right. From now on, photocopies of the civil documents (birth, marriage, police, military, etc) will be accepted. Originals of those documents will be brought to the interview instead!

Information found here (2nd link): http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/visa-policy-update.html

Direct link to update: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/policy_updates/National%20_Visa_Center_No_Longer_Collecting_Original_Civil_Documents_November_2014.pdf

I encourage you all to read the update. For those that haven't sent your packages yet, time to make photocopies of the civil documents and put the originals in a safe place in time for the interview!!

Please note, this does NOT mean you can send photocopies of the AOS form. The form still has to be an original, with the original signature. As should the employment letter, with an original signature. The optional cover letters should be original as well. Besides that, everything else can be photocopies now.

I'm going to guess that this new change will reduce the amount of checklists stating a document isn't an original (when in most cases it is). Not to mention, the scrutiny of civil documents will be less (I'm guessing), thus speeding up the review process. So, good news everywhere :)

This makes perfect sense with their new process that they have in place (both packages at the same time). Sending all the IV package originals via mail to your petitioner can be tough for some.

Yup. Now with this new requirement (or, non-requirement), a beneficiary can theoretically scan all their documents and email to the petitioner to print out. So, no more mailing from abroad (unless the petitioner and beneficiary live abroad, haha). So, lots of money savings right there!

Glory be to God! Scan date aos sept 10 civil docs sept 29. My husband woke me up this morning around 1:15am and told me to check ceac.state.gov and look to see that the aos had changed from paid to N/A! Which means case closed according to vj members. I called nvc nov 12 in the morning and the operator told me it's under review. Did not expect it would be closed the same day! I went to sleep around 10pm nov 12. So nvc closed my case late that night. I will call this morning nov 13 to confirm. No checklist! Also I would like to thank the bigo who predicted nov 10 - 21 for cc. I was cc nov 12 the last hour before nvc closed for the day! I am praying for a dec interview date! Good luck to everyone!

Just called nvc now and my case is closed. Thank you jesus! Next step interview yay. I pray for my vj peeps the same cc this week.

Just called the NVC to check on them lol

It's just funny how they say they are actually reviewing your package and they might need at least 60 days to finish. I mean, cmon, you can always say that due the amount of workload we haven't got to yours yet but don't tell me you actually need 60 days to go through 5 forms.

Of course they won't share any other information. I don't blame them because it's not fair but this whole process is just ridiculous. We are apart from our loved ones for months and it's so frustrating. Wish they could experience that.

Sorry I'm in a bad mood. I know you will understand.

Big O,

My scan date Sept 24 for both AOS and civil documents. Can you please do the math and give me an estimated date for cc. I'm kind of concern on my 49 day and no word.

Thank You in advance.

I can't speak for the Big O, but I sent him a message with exactly the same date and situation and he replied with

Nov 8-16th.
