The link I posted is Packet 3, not a sample. You can get to it through this link: http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/visas/visas/fianc-k-1-visas/forms.html which I copied directly from the automatic response email I got back from the Montreal Consulate when I emailed them my Packet 3 items. I haven't officially received Packet 3 from them yet, but as long as the consulate has your paperwork, you don't really need to wait for them to send it to you, since it's posted online (A lot of Canadian filers have done this - it's mentioned in the Canada forum).

For the items on the checklist that did not apply to me, I put N/A, but I don't know what the preferred method is. To be honest, I don't imagine them being THAT picky about it. I just didn't want to leave it blank because I didn't want them to think I forgot about that item or skipped over it. But, if something comes back to me when I get my Packet 4 about it, I will definitely let you all know!

Can we just get the checklist online and send it to them without waiting the actual one? Ours is still in transit, we have no idea how to check out status but the CEAC, which for me is frustating really, we are Montreal too!

Yes, that is what a lot of Montreal filers do, myself included.

From my understanding, the CEAC website is the only current way to check the status of your petition at this point. Wait until it says "Ready" which means Montreal has received it, and then you can email your packet 3 checklist, DS-160, and your passport biographic page to the email address included in the instructions.

Check out the Canada forum if you haven't already. The Montreal guide is slightly outdated, but the information is all there, including other helpful discussions.

Please keep posting your status, cuz we r in the same situation as you. My fiancée is on a student visa and our case is STUCK at NVC since 1/20. We are still waiting for our status to change to "in transit". Due to the bad weather the past week and maybe this week too, our case will be STUCK at NVC for a while.

From what I gather I am GUESSING you'll get a RFE notice asking for a copy of PR card and/or letter. I was advised to EMAIL them the proof of PR and request that further communication be done via email and that they email you pack you packet 3 and 4. I think MTL email address is the same email address of the packet 3 link andymack provided earlier.

11/25/2014 I-129f mailed to Dallas Lockbox

12/04/2014 Receipt NOA 1 via email

12/10/2014 Receipt hard copy NOA 1

12/24/2014 Receipt NOA 2 via checking website

12/26/2014 Receipt hard copy NOA 2

01/20/2014 On hold for ONLY 30 min, got our case# MTL 1234....

02/10/2014 Called NVC (4 times in 3weeks) no update. Checked website in afternoon, IN TRANSIT?!!

02/11/2014 READY. After 21 days of no activity our status magically jumped 2 levels in less than 24hr.

Emailed MONTREAL-IV-DV@STATE.GOV requested further communication via email.

02/17/2014 Got an email response from MTL "Your file is being reviewed. We soon provide you instructions."

03/04/2014 Submitted multiple inquiries with no response! Tired of waiting around, so emailed in Packet 3 with copy of student visa.

03/09/2014 CEAC Status Date changed AGAIN to today. Hope this mean we'll be getting Packet 4 soon.

03/11/2014 GOT PACKET 4! CEAC Status Date changed.

04/17/2014 Interview appointment.

"administrative processing"

When calling NVC with your case still stuck there, did everyone get the same response upon calling NVC, "your case is under ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING"?

I am just afraid "administrative processing' mean something bad.

Ok I'm getting it a bit, so all we need to do is prepare everything in the checklist, then wait for the status to be ready, then that's the only time we can email the packet 3, but my concern is I need the letter from the embassy for police clearance application for hongkong and canada, do you think I can just print the checklist and use that for police clearance application? I mean, I just need an idea lol! I can't wait for this real checklist to come..

I will try to post all our case updates but for the moment we are freezed due to snow storm maybe lol! ??? ok if they will ask for PR papers, I don't have those, I only have work permits, I am trying to research about MTL but all I gathered were just like Andymack's..

I have no idea what the Hong Kong police require for you to get your police clearance. However, I didn't need to provide anything to get my Canadian police check done...just went to the station, filled out the paperwork, waited in line, paid the fee, and received it.

If Hong Kong needs an official email of some sort, I guess you can wait to see if you get a Packet 3 email. If not, then you can just try to use the packet 3 pdf that's on the website. They will literally email you that same pdf so I don't see the sense in waiting.

hi everyone! do you think i can call nvc now? we were approved on jan 22 or is it too early?thank u

Probably too early. The new automated menu wont even let you talk to a person if you pick the option that it's been less than 35 days since your approval. I'd wait another week personally, otherwise you'll spend hours on hold for no reason.
