Hi musique,

As andymack said, different consulate send different things. Egypt's "post/mail" is very bad, so they send an email for the PACKET 3 instead of an actual letter. Below is what they sent us:

From: "Consular, Cairo IV" <ConsularCairoIV@state.gov>

Date: January 12, 2015 at 3:58:25 AM PST

To: (whatever email address they have on file for you)

Subject: (YOUR CASE NUMBER HERE)

Please prepare the following documents for each person applying for a visa and send them to our office via Aramex courier service:

25]1. Photocopy of passport (the original to be submitted on the appointment date)

25]2. Photocopy of birth certificate

25]3. A copy of your divorce certificate (If previously married and divorced)

25]4. Police certificate from your country of nationality if you are 16 years old or older

25]5. Police certificate if you lived in a different country for more than 12 months and you were 16 years or older at that time.

25]6. An Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) signed by the Petitioner and notarized before either a noBetary public in the U.S. or a consular officer at the embassy.

25]7. Petitioners most recent year of federal income taxes (form 1040 only). Please also bring the most recent W2 form and a job letter indicating current salary and length of employment

25]8. Medical exam for applicant as attached, medical examination report should be submitted on the day of the visa interview. Applicants are advised to schedule their medical examination 3weeks prior to the date of their visa interview.

25]9. Applications: DS-160 application online application form: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/, please print the confirmation page and send it along with the documents.

25]10. 2 photos face view photos with a white background for the applicant

25]11. Fees: Login to your profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/eg, print your deposit slip ( CGI ) and pay the fees 265$ at your local CIB bank.

Upon receipt of the required documents, we will schedule an appointment for the final visa interview on the first available slot.

So, we've gathered everything and now he's just awaiting my Form I-134 form (which I sent yesterday). Also, sometimes different consulates ask for different things. For example, it is NOT required to "notarize" the I-134 form but Egypt specifically asked for that. So irritating. But hey... we're progressing. :)

andymack, that is GREAT!!!! I wish we could do that!

Hi Romet!

This is very useful info. Thanks! ?

Hi! My fiance and I filed our k1 petition last November 20, 2014 and he received a letter from the uscis last December 12, 2014 stating that they received the money order and they will process the case. Yet until now we're still waiting for the NOA1... While reading the other stories here they got the noa1 so fast especially they are petitioning their fiancee in the PHILIPPINES and the letter was from CSC. <_<

NOA1 is the receipt!

NOA2 is the approval!

That's awesome! You may have better luck with asking this question in the Philippines-specific forum - because I know that I can send my documents to my consulate in Montreal without waiting for their letter if I know they have received my paperwork, but things are different in different places.

Yes... when she received packet 3 there was a letter from the embassy stating the need for the police clearance. All she had to do was to take it over to the police station. They said normally they take 2-4 week to process but when she told them she already had an interview date of Jan 29 they said they would expedite and ensure it was completed and at the embassy prior to the interview date. Hope that helps!!!

My fiance called NVC today - We got our case number! Our file has not been sent to the consulate yet, but I was thinking - instead of trying to get through to NVC to find out when it gets sent out, do you think its worth just calling the DOS instead in about a week? Is it easier to get them on the phone, or is it about the same in terms of busy signals and hold wait times?
