After your packets goes to the NVC and they do their handy work with it, it then gets forwarded (shipped) to the embassy/consulate. Once they get it they will either send a letter or an email letting you know what it is your fiance(e) will need to send. I spoke to a NVC rep the other day and they said from the USCIS to the NVC is taking up to 35 days. I'm not sure how accurate that is. He also told me that once it gets to the NVC the packets gets through them very quickly. He said within a few days, so I hope what's he's saying is true there. Once it leaves the NVC it usually gets sent DHL and gets to the embassy relatively quickly.. but again.. you have to take all of this with grain of salt. :(

I would wait to get medical exams booked until you get your packet three ONLY because depending on when you get your interview, they may have you take certain tests over (for example, TB test) if they're done too soon. So that's more money.. :(

You have to go to a doctor that is Embassy assigns. They usually have a list you can go to.

Yes you fiance will need to take docs with them. I-134 affidavit of support . When you get your "packet 3" it should have a list of documents they'll need to send and what to bring to the interview (I believe).

Visit your consulate forum on VJ and they should be able to help with better detailed information of what you'll need.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Thank you!

Hope over to the United Kingdom forum for information regarding this stage :) this thread is particularly helpful http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

There is only one place in the UK where the medical can be done, that can be booked as soon as you guys have your case number from NVC.

Congratulations by the way!

Thank you! That's very helpful! :)

Hi everyone, just a quick question. Just reading through the documents I have to gather now for the next step. Does anyone know what the income requirement is? I make a decent amount of money, but unsure its "enough" in terms of the visa and embassy. I've seen a few different numbers, but was curious if anyone knew exactly how much. Thanks!

It's 125% of the poverty line for a household of two (unless other dependents are involved) which I believe is roughly $19,662 right now. This may increase slightly for 2015. Hopefully this link works: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf it shows the amount needed, if not, just search i-1864 on the USCIS website, this outlines the income requirements :)

Remember with the London Embassy, self sponsorship is also possible for the beneficiary.

Awesome, thank you!!! And do you know is that gross income? Like, before taxes are taken out? Or is that what it roughly is even with taxes taken out already? Thanks again!

A quick search of VJ seems to suggest gross income but I don't know for sure :)

Federal employees have the 25th and 26th off, as well as 1 January.

I don't know what's the norm in Texas or California or another department, but the agency I work for most of us have either started our leave or will begin on Wednesday. Most will be off until 2 January. Again, I'm a federal employee, but work in DC and for an agency in a completely different department than the USCIS... So it may be a little different.

Thank you :) we are pretty excited but now we are wondering if I should change my flight home and go back earlier, and have my medical sooner to get things moving along as I really want to be here by the end of february. Decisions decisions!

Yes it probably is affected depending on the beneficiary's country... also I've had three J1 visas previously which makes me think the government already knows a lot about me? Who knows!

I have a strange question, lol. :innocent: We've received our NOA2 text/email version, and just awaiting on the hardcopy now. I know we need to wait a couple weeks then contact NVC to see if our paperwork has arrived there, and to get our case number, etc, etc. Then wait for it to go to transit to London. Then from there we can get the medical booked for my fiancé. My question is how long do we have to book the medical? As much as I would like to do things ASAP we need to stretch out the process a little bit as we have received the NOA2 much quicker than anticipated! We would ideally like my fiancé to officially move here in September. So is it possible to book the medical for like March-ish? Then proceed from there with the interview? Thank you again everyone for your help and I apologize if I've been asking too many questions lately! Just didn't expect to get to this stage in the process so soon! :energy:
